Our lord and saviour Duncan has put out a video that is exactly what I was looking for in terms of cheap and stackable miniature storage, I will be ordering a few of these come payday:

My hobby has completely dropped off since August. Before then I'd painted close to 300+ models this year but with no tournaments or club nights there's just no reason for me to pick up a brush and paint.

Last year I hit 600+ models painted and was really hoping to get to that this year but I'm going to be no where near.

Is anyone picking up any of the Christmas Battleforce boxes when they come out? I'm considering either the Age of Sigmar Kharadron Overlords or Ogor Mawtribes one as they look pretty cool, but worried it'll be a waste of money if it sits there unused for the time being.

Not for me, I've got a mountain of unpainted stuff anyway and have moved away from mainline 40k into either GW's side games like Horus Heresy, Blood Bowl etc or other games altogether, particularly the OnePageRules games which are written to let you use GW models but with a much more open, crucially free and generally calmer air about it. GW's relentless pace of releases, particularly the endless list of books you need, the fiasco of their app and the spiralling costs has just turned me off them.

Yeah GWs releases are mental, I always wish they revealed a month in advance what was coming so you could plan accordingly. The books is an issue for sure, I'm a competitive AoS player and always needing the latest books to know all the rules etc is a proper ball-ache. Thankfully we've got a club group that normally chips in for the digital copy and then we just share that PDF between us so the cost is minimal. But even then it still sucks having to constantly find out the extra rules.

But despite that GW's models are phenomenal.

The new reveals from today's show are fantastic too.

For 40k they've ditched all pdf copies and you have to register the physical book to their app using a code inside, which means no more pdf sharing.

As for those models, wow. I was watching the stream and as soon as I saw Sigvald I instantly planned out how to convert him into Fulgrim for my 30k Emperor's Children. I hate the Forge World model but this is in plastic and is amazing. I'm sure I'll do a terrible paint job on it.

I think I might have asked in here before, so apologies, but can anyone reccomend a good starter painting set for me? I have absolutely nothing, so if it could include some brushes and so on that would be cool. Looking for something that'd be suitable for the fantasy miniatures that come with dark descent 2.

I found the reaper mini Learn to Paint kits a good starting point, but typically, they're out of stock again.

They don't come with brushes, but Vallejo do a big range of paint sets, and they're good paints, in dropper bottles. There's a selection of sets, so just check which ones have the colour range you want:

As for brushes, having picked up a few dedicated mini painting starter brushes or brush sets, my preferred ones have been some cheap synthetic ones from hobby craft. Got a pack with a few rounds (sizes 1, 3, & 5,) and a few flats, and they're my go to ones, now.

Excellent, thank you. I'm going to get a few stater things and see how I go from there. I'll get some cheap miniatures to practice first too.

If you're interested in Games Workshop minis, their easy to paint sets are OK value as well, and come with some standard infantry minis, but the brush included is shite.

Don't bother with the bigger sets that come with tools. And if you plan on doing what I did and getting more than one, check you're not getting duplicate paints. It worked out cheaper for me to buy the individual minis and then the additional pots once I'd got more than 1 paint set for either range, 40k or Sigmar.

One thing to say is probably don't order from Wayland Games, they're known for being awful at shipping. Saying they have stock and then having to wait 2 months to order it in etc.

GW Starter Sets are good for learning how to paint.

Army Painter also do a couple of starter paint sets which are not bad

https://www.mightylancergames.co.uk/col ... -paint-set

Although you'll always be wanting more paints outside of a starter collection. I've got about 200 pots of various colours and manufacturers just because of different tones etc

For brushes a few of the newer players at the club got these and recommended them as a new painter - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074Z7SX2S/

You get a fair few sizes and are good for basecoating main colours and also doing extra details etc.

I think I've only ordered once from Wayland games, and everything arrived in a couple of days. Didn't realise they had that kind of reputation. :slol:

These are my personal favourite webstores to order from ranked from top choice and then down;

Normally always go to Alchemists Workshop as it’s live stock feeds, normally same day shipping and orders over £75 you get within 2 days.

1. Alchemists Workshop
2. Goblin Gaming
3. Darksphere
4. JustPlay Games Liverpool
5. Mighty Lancer Games
6. Leodis Games
7. Element Games
