Was all geared up to do some painting tonight.
Put the boys to bed, get the paints out, fill my water pot, get the wet pallette out... And then...

Off to Warhammer World to play 30K on Sunday with some mates, can't wait it's been a good 3-4 years since I've been to Warhammer World.

Have finished the first 2,500pts for my Iron Warriors army. Got probably another 3,000pts to build and paint.

Back onto painting my grubby blood angels :toot:

Tried to do something different with the shoulder pad on this one.
Took so many thin layers of wraithbone to get a good layer on it.
But then kinda over-did the dirty wash/stippling on it - need to reign it in a bit.

Got _well_ frustrated with accidentally putting wraithbone over the black outline.. and then accidentally putting black over the wraithbone to correct it... And then putting wraithbone over the black etc etc which is why it's not very neat.

Happy that I'm improving my caution stripes on my swords though :wub:

Any advice about making waterslide transfers easier to stick into place?

Space marine transfers are tricky as their shoulders curve in two directions at the same time; look up microsol and microset, the latter in particular softens the transfer so it conforms to the surface better. A quick coat of lahmian medium or matte varnish afterwards and it looks like it it's painted on.

The new Khorne Bezerkers look cool :toot:

I always struggled with shading green skin.

Anyway, my Primaris Dreadnought has been built and undercoated! It took over a month, but the amount of filing, sanding, cutting and filling, and sanding again got silly towards the end. And there are still one or two small areas I'm not 100% happy with, but sod it. I'll paint it in 4 separate pieces then glue together.

I'd rate the model 5/5 for the finish, but 1/5 for the ease of construction. As a modeller, it was pretty terrible. :lol:

I also knocked up a small balsa wood corner plinth for me to keep the model parts in place while I paint them. Saves me holding the model with my mucky fingers and it's very light.

Ork Combat patrol arrived yesterday :toot:

Managed to get it for £64 after all the places put their prices up.

Built this guy last night. Absolutely love this model, it's great looking.

And it's as big as my son's helbrute.. waaaaagh!!

Built the entire Ork combat patrol over the weekend. Really enjoyed putting them together.

lots of mould lines on the Deff Dread though, still needs tidying up, but I'll do that later. Happy with how I managed to take the lower jaw tusks and get them to fit like horns from a Nobz helmet :datass:

And then, painted my first ever Ork this evening. Quite happy with it :wub:

i know people will cry about monopose etc but those new boyz are so dynamic, and really love your paintjob

Fantastic work mate that Ork is great. Agree with Falsey the new boyz are amazing, the old ones while in multiparts were still rather static, these have a lot of character.

i always hated the arm/shoulder joint on the original boyz, there was never a way to get them looking natural, and always a flat bit either top or bottom making them look half constructed

You basically get "action figure" effect with multi part models. Swinging arms up or down like some kind of robot that's rarely natural. In reality you have a limited number of poses that made sense and looked good anatomically. That contrasted with the metal humanoids. So basically only your HQs, veterans etc would look cool. The rest kind of looked plonked there.

Tyranids were great because they had ball joints but the earlier Eldar, marine etc models didn't give you choice, just more work and more superglue explosions.

Just finished this guy. Super happy with how it's come out.
Ignore the grey Astrogranite base - it's going to be a desert/sand base eventually.

Been trying super hard to do actual, decent looking highlights, and I'm getting there slowly.
Tried my hand at the stereotypical Ork Chequered pattern, but... Well... It didn't pan out, so we have black and white stripes instead :lol:

Orks are a lot more fun to paint than space marines 8-)

orks were my first army when i started again a few years back, really love the freedom of them but got burnt out doing too many

got a bunch lying around i need to get to - on the list when the heat settles and i can summon the energy to sit and paint again
