Ah strawberry float, yeah sorry Yoshi, I was the one who asked you to put photos up and then never replied!

Very cool though. I'm envious of the terrain you have as Photo Props. I would like to make my photos more entertaining like yours.

Lovely work Yoshi, and can't wait to see those Synthwave Votaan Lewis!

I've been busy getting back into the hobby this month, finished the first batch of 500pts of my Emperors Children with bases (next 500pts will be finished tonight), and got back into AoS by starting a Trogg army. Found a relatively quick and simple scheme to do which should be a fun project for the next couple of weeks;

Made a start on the Votann the last few days :toot:

Such fun little models to build. And SO MANY spare bits on the sprues! So many little bearded heads

Unfortunately I avoid painting skin where possible haha so I've gone with quite a number of the NASA visors.

Image

And my Purple spray paints arrived today. So it has an undercoat of Corvus Black to give a Purpley blue/black shadow, then a 45° angle (ish) spray of Naggaroth night for those dark purple shadows, and then Phoenician Purple for the volumetric highlight from above.

Image

Going to hit this with a dark purple wash (want to avoid black/brown wash). The a very light drybrush of Emperor's Children pink to pick up the edges and give Synthwave vibes.

This was a colour test I did with my mini tank, but it's too light, which is why I went with Naggaroth and Phoenician Purples.

Aiming for less of a scratchy drybrush on the Votann models, this was just a brain fart of the colours

I love these Lewis! Paint scheme is awesome. Love the contrast between the figures and the bases.

The Votann kill team are on my list to buy.

More hobby progress (it's great to be painting again after so many months away).

Finished off my next 500pts for my Heresy army including the Predator Support Tank that Lewis so kindly got me for Secret Santa this year

Also painted up a new team for Marvel Crisis Protocol for a Team Event I went to on Saturday. Personally I went 3-1 for the event but unfortunately the team could only manage a 1-3 result. Always enjoy painting Marvel as every model is pretty much unique.

They look great JC! Love that deep rich purple (and the paint job on Hulk in particular is great!)

And I didn't realise you already had a Predator, I was weighing up weather to get you that or a contemptor dreadnought :simper:

Hopefully two tanks works into the army idea you had in mind originally!

Cheers mate. Used the colour forge Imperial Purple as a base primer and then worked up from there before doing an oil wash to darken it down.

I didn’t have a Predator I bought a second one a week or two ago to have a squadron. Like that you can take up to 3 tanks in a squad in Heresy.

Ah cool that's reassuring to hear 8-)

Imperial Purple is what I used on my Votann as the highlight colour so that bodes well for me.
Colour forge sprays are really really good, I get great results with them

They’re amazing. Especially for army painting. Getting a basecoat down of a main colour speeds up painting massively.

I also use their Wraithbone equivalent too. Fantastic for contrast and speed paints.

I was flipping and flopping between the orange of the Trans Hyperion Alliance, and a custom yellow and grey design.

Before settling on... SYNTHWAVE :datass:

I have finally finished my first Synthwave/Cyberpunk/Space Cowboy Votann.
I'm really tempted to get some fluorescent paints to make this really more neon looking.. but I'm very happy with how it's turned out. And the first time I've painted a face that I'm actually happy with! What a win! :toot:

I was really out of my comfort zone with this one, really unfamiliar territory in terms of colours and techniques (wet blended for the first time!)
