They look superb, really great models.
Happy to see the old box dreadnought has been given a bit of extra height.

I was only toying with the idea of orange space marines yesterday too...

Damn the blend of gen1 style 'nids and the new is really good and finally some variation in the overall theme. Overall more mutate-y and ghastly looking, warms the cockles it does.

The creepiness that I felt was awesome in the gen2 Zoanthrope is back and expanded more too with the physic type models, with some of them having no eyes. They were getting too armour-y with too much carapace and muscle.

That Neurotyrant is amazing.

Very tempted to get back into 40k as a result.

i went to warhammer fest today

i honestly dont feel as though its worth the price of admission - it felt like a waste of the space they had, and the stuff they had was far too dense and too small a footprint

the wait to do paint and take was probably around 2 hours, there were huge queues to buy anything from the shops, if you wanted to go to the reveals in the auditorium there were gigantic queues to even take a chance at it - the best bits there were the things run by non-gw like the demo stations etc, if you are interested in that sort of thing, and the titan battle was impressive

i bought a patch and it was 7.50, for a small piece of fabric, probably the cheapest thing there

there was zero gw studio presence and it was much worse than warhammer world felt

there was a giant queue for the 10th ed test tables and i believe there were only 5 tables to serve everyone there

and there was zero footprint for anything that wasnt 40k - no sigmar, no fantasy, no kill team (aside from laser tag that had a kill team logo), no warcry, and even less middle earth

if i was an exhibitor or golden demon entrant etc it would feel like a huge slap in the face - some of the models were incredible but just zero vibe drawn to them at all

£40 for 2 tickets was certainly a stretch, and really feels like gw as a company dont respect the people who pay them

I love Heroquest, helped by the fact that the new expansions are 100% compatible with the 1980's original.

If you're GMing games then Id recommend inserting some extra comedy/puzzles to spice up what can be quite dry adventures.

I GM for my son who plays all 4 warriors. I tend to adlib as I go using the provided material. In a recent adventure I noticed 3 goblins in a room with the bookcase to added in that the warriors had interrupted the Goblin Book club who were having a debate over what was the best novel. I also added in a magical table coming to life that they had to lure into a fireplace.

If your audience is older than 10 then go for some darker stuff. I take a lot of inspiration from Vox Machina but tone it down a bit.

Yeah I'm going to be the GM, so will definitely take a look at throwing in a bit of extra comedy and darkness here and there. Can't beat a bit of slapstick here and there.

It's their gateway to playing DnD and my gateway towards DM'ing :D

Heroquest is great for nostalgic reasons, but it's a little bit simplistic and frustrating to play perhaps. Definitely a prime candidate for some house rules! Rolling to move can piss right off for example.

Join the Inquisition To Hunt a Mutating Chaos Cult in a New Kill Team Campaign Expansion: https://www.warhammer-community.com/202 ... expansion/
Welcome to Kill Team: Ashes of Faith – a brand new expansion box packed with 40 miniatures and a deep narrative campaign system full of territories to capture and schemes to concoct.

This box is a bit of an oddity; It's not part of the current Kill Team season. Rather this is a narrative campaign in a box and a brand new way to play Kill Team.

The stars of the show are the new Inquisitorial Agents. These shadowy specialists are an Inquisitor's most valuable assets, whose unique skills and abilities are vital for fighting a war in the darkness.

Four of these acolytes can be each be built as two completely different operatives – the pistol-packing Interrogator can also become a knife-juggling Enlightener, for example – while there's also an Autosavant, a faithful Tome-skull, and a Gun Servitor who can be armed (literally) with a heavy bolter, multi-melta, or plasma cannon.

Seven intrepid mortals – no matter how skilled – aren't quite enough to take down a planet-spanning Chaos Cult. Fortunately, an Inquisitor can call upon faithful servants from across the Imperium to fight the sickness.

Six different groups can lend their aid, in the form of Ancillary Support operatives – Tempestus Scions and Sisters of Silence are included in the box, but you may also deputise Kasrkin, Imperial Navy Breachers, Arbites Exaction Squads, or Veteran Guardsmen. Each can dispatch a squad of their best to join your acolytes, making this the most flexible kill team ever devised. So if you've been collecting Kill Teams, odds are that you have some easy ways to add even more flexibility to this unusual crew.

Ashes of Faith provides a complete start-to-finish campaign system that only needs a killzone to play, and will offer wildly different experiences every time as plans go awry and momentum shifts back and forth ahead of the nail-biting finale. The Kill Teams in this box are also usable in more traditional Kill Team campaigns and matched play missions, and they both offer a distinct playstyle.

I've actually found the rules to me more streamlined than simplistic. The combat rarely gets in the way. Rolling for movement is a pain though. I modified the game a little to use a basic action point structure where each hero gets 3AP and can then choose to move, attack, defend, search for traps, open door, shoot, cast a spell or RPG action (search bookcase etc). Most of these can only be done once with the exception of attacking. This helps balance the game out as it can be quite punishing for the warriors. Monsters get 2AP and can only attack once unless ranged.

More interestingly I'm currently writing a Star Wars version of Heroquest for my son to play. The Legion models are the same height as the Heroquest ones and the base characters have been easy to fit into Star Wars archetypes.
