Hell yeah!

I've been buying some Hordes minis recently (specifically Legion of the Everblight) as I've heard really good things about Warmahordes. In almost 20 years of wargaming it's my first non-GW miniatures game and so far I'm impressed! Great idea to have the unit rules come with the models (though I see this is pretty widespread outside of GW games), and the books are of a high standard. For now I'm just focusing on getting minis I really like the look of, as some of the older sculpts look a bit naff.

I'm also currently looking into Firestorm Armada by Spartan Games to scratch my spaceship battles itch (used to have a BFG Chaos fleet).

BTW, if any of you are interested in Ogre Kingdoms for Warhammer fantasy, be sure to stop by my website: http://www.ogrestronghold.com

oh dear.

i sold 99% of mine on ebay or to kids in the store, who would pay more for painted stuff, lazy buggers.

tbh what put me off even more than the prices was the direction they have gone.

i mean, a campaign we would do, in store or at my old mates house (he was a GWS staff member, lost interest in GWS, lost interest in friend, all they play now days is battletech and i haven't the effort anymore).

gothic - for the battle in space before invasion of planet leading on to...
epic - for the early massive battles after planet fall to gain several objectives which would effect...
40k - for company sized games about indiviual objectives leading on to...
nercomunda - for squad on squad / plattoon sized actions which can lead on to....
inquisitor - character games.

now they've combined it all into 40k apocalypse which doesn't suit 40k, or epic imo and nercomunda, inquisitor and gothic have been forgotten.

ooooo 9 basilisks, thats a huge artillery section, then i think back to the epic days of 32 basilisks and walk out of the shop.

Necromunda was an awesome game. I'm tempted to get a version of it again to play with the bros.

I would literally kill a man for a turn-based Necromunda strategy game in the style of Valkyria Chronicles. Working your way up the Underhive, customising a sweet Delaque gang with individual traits, weapons and injuries...

strawberry floating DO IT somebody.

I had Necromunda years ago when I was a kid, my parents got it for me for christmas one year. I did have a lot of fun playing it with my brother and I very almost got into Games Workshop stuff back then, but at the time I didn't really have the patience for learning the rules and was more interested in video games than tabletop games.
It was a great game though, I particularly loved the included walls that you could assemble in pretty much whatever way you wanted, way better than those towers and plastic pre-built buildings they sell now.

oh yeah, short of being their best game imo, so open ended and the experience system led you have really customised gangs.

we had a necro campaign that ran for about 2 years, some insane exp characters running around.

i had dalaks and rat skins, the dalaks also in the campaign were a genestealer cult for added fun.

i wish i had taken more photos, i have soo few, but heres the ork army i ended up selling for £700 odd, some sisters, i sold the entire army to a dude in australia for shy of £400 (i got the entire army for weight order, cost me about £50) and i one photo i have of the first squad i painted for the valhallans.

i wish i had a photo of my epic orks, had about 12000 pts worth, 4 or 5 gargants, 2 mega gargants, 30 stompas and 100's of tanks and fast attack units and it was all painted!!!

I remember that I had one member of my team, who was a las-rifle ace. Would take down any mofo easily.

One day, my opponent finally managed to take him down. In the post game injury roll, he died.

All this talk of Necromunda reminds me - a LOT of their out-of-print games are available to download as .pdfs from their website:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/articleCategory.jsp?communityArticleCatId=1100014&articleCatId=1100014&catId=cat410008&section=

Everything from Necromunda, Gorkamorka, Inquisitor, Mordheim, through to their smaller one-off games or super-old stuff like Dark Future. A veritable gold-mine of gaming goodness.

To be honest, I just want to buy Necromunda again for the scenery. :shifty:

I've got the Necromunda scenery in the form of the imperial refinery scenery set they released years ago.

Since this has turned into a picture thread here's some of mine. Spoilered for quantity.

A Necromunda gang I made for when my club had a campaign last year.
Image

Additional ganger.
Image

A very heavily converted Ork Trukk.
Image

Scratch built Ork Skorcha.
Image

Some of my favourite figures, Squigs! Oh and a runtherd.
Image

One of my best, a slightly pimped out Ork Nob.
Image

Space Marine Captain from the current 40k box set I painted for the practice.
Image

Ammo runt.
Image

My scratch built Shok Attak Gun.
Image
The trailer is actually a cage for the snotling ammo.
Image

Fairly heavily converted old style Killa Kan.
Image

Finally I present the last stand of Crispin, the only gay terminator in the chapter!
Image
Hope that doesn't offend anyone, my mate wanted to try and get into it so I gave him a black reach terminator to paint and Crispin was the result.

Didn't realise this had become a general Warhammer thread.

I've not played for a while, it's rather annoying. Games just take so long and I don't often want to spend all my free time doing so. Need to get back to painting at least, my Khorne Berserkers are almost done.

My finest model has to be my Dreadnought conversion. It's just the standard crappy one you get with Black Reach, but I've made it look pretty bloody cool. Can't wait to paint that.

Thanks Garth, I'm really starting to get my enthusiasm for this back again thanks to this thread. :D

Just dug out my transport cases and took some more pictures.

My Warboss, Black Reach model, one of the first things I painted when getting back into a couple of years ago so not that great.
Image

The new all plastic Killa Kanz, these are awesome models so I built mine stock.
Image

Stock Warbikerz and a converted Biker Nob, it may not have photographed clearly enough though. The Nob is actually wearing Stormboy gear and is kind of slinging his bike away and boosting off of it in order to get to the fighting that little bit quicker.
Image

The aforementioned Meganobz from ebay, 3 of them have had heads from Warhammer Black Orcs and the two on the right have a scratch built arm each.
Image

The rest is conversions I was working on just before I started to feel burnt out on it around last Dec. These are all works in progress.

Big Gun platforms
Image

Looted Wagon
Image

Finally, a very, very WIP almost entirely scratch built Battle Wagon.
Image

Edit: Can't believe I forgot to photograph the finished Crispin!
Image
He's armed with his own one of a kind customised 'Bling Bolter' which according to my mate's own totally official fiction was described by the head of Crispin's chapter as "Absolutely shite and an embarrassment to the Chapter!"

Would making this "The Official Tabletop Gaming Thread" be too much of a stretch?

It'd be nice if there was somewhere on here I can talk M:TG without feeling like I'm veering way off topic.

Well it's a good idea to call it tabletop gaming I suppose (Which I've done, that's the third thread name now..... :shifty: ) though I don't know if card games like Magic count as Tabletop games so much as card games.

I'm not sure if they would either, but I've been dying for us to have an MTG topic for far too long. Seems logical to stick stuff about it here,....

Well, you're not going to like how much I'm actually stretching the definition due to it being MTGO that I play.

went to the GWS today for a nosey.

new grey knights are very nice, priced up a 1500pts army consisting of 13 models for the giggles and if i were to get back into it thats a fairly small army to tackle painting wise to east back into it maybe.

and the guy in the shop said end of this month or next a new sisters codex and possibly new sisters in plastic, could really suck me back into the hobby if that be the case.

still waiting for them to recover necromunda the way they did space hulk.
