thanks! pink is the scheme for my boys, I find it gives a much needed flash of something silly to the grimdark

artel models are great, love them, I have quite a few. No mould slips, little clean up, very detailed, I like working with them

got a couple more I need to paint

thankyou

it takes me forever to finish even one model, I only do a bit at a time - no good for painting armies but it allows me to labour over getting things just right..

Slow bone bros when it comes to taking your time painting lol

Airbrush looks nice, any home remedies for thinning paints to the right consistency from GW pots??

Can't afford to get into Vajello Air at the moment.

Forgot to apply my £20 Amazon gift voucher as well so I can't afford the hit on the airbrush, hopefully can get something figured out with Amazon support as I swear they used to apply vouchers automatically at checkout which didn't happen this time :x

Would the Vajello product work about as well with GW paints do you think? I'm not sure how similar the makeup of those paints actually are.

Wanted to order some Khorne 40k models to kick-start my painting again after 20 years.

Looks like the Berserker models haven't changed at all in that time though :(

The new(er) Kharn the betrayer and Abaddon the despoiler models are so much cooler than what we had in our day though

And they don't sell Brazen Brass anymore?!

Brazen brass was the best colour for the Khorne Bronze!

the whole range was replaced, you probably want a base of brass scorpion and a layer of sycorax bronze

The Berserkers might not have changed, however the Age of Sigmar Blades of Khorne army has loads of incredible models you could kitbash with the newer chaos marines to make them yourself:

Yeah, when I think back to painting these when I was a teenager, I'm pretty sure I never actually watered down my paints.

I also actually spent time filling down the spru notches and the more prominent mould lines, which is definitely something I never bothered with before, either.

They don't really need watering down out of the pot, you just have to work the paint over a thin area. Never need to load more paint on a brush than will "sit" on the bristles, if you want to load more, get it to the back of the brush so it drips down as you go (but I tend to avoid that, as it tends to cause more bristle seperation).

Also wet your brush in between paints and paint loads and you'll add enough water that way. Or just lick your brush (it's non-toxic) and that works too, I pretty much always end up with paint in the corner of my mouth :slol:

And/or you can work excess paint off the brush on the lip of the pot.

Yes, I know you're not meant to eat the paint

Getting paint up in the ferrule is never good, it's always better to go back to the palette than load up the brush like that, the bristles will fray and you have a lot less control over the paint. Thinning paints is very useful, I didn't do it when I was younger and my stuff was bad, now they still come out a bit chalky sometimes but there is definite improvement to not doing it. There's a reason it's become a meme:
