New Blood Bowl set coming:

Image

For those who do know, you’ll be excited to hear that the guys in the Warhammer Studio have poured their hearts and souls into this new edition – and the motto of “bigger, better, and 100% Blood Bowl” pretty much sums up the approach that’s been taken.

Hours of playtesting and feedback from many of the best players in the world have gone into crafting the very best edition of Blood Bowl to date – putting into practice more than 30 years of game development. At its heart, it’s the same Blood Bowl you all know and love, but polished to perfection to improve the gaming experience for everyone.

Without getting into too much detail (although, you better believe we’ll do that in due time), the rules team have added new tactical depth to the game both on and off the field. You can expect enhancements to core mechanics like passing, alongside campaign elements such as injuries, experience, and spending those all-important Star Player Points. We’ll have a more detailed look at some of the new rules later in the week, so stay tuned!

Facebook threw up my little sorcerer that was in Warhammer Visions back in 2014. Not a great paint job but I won 'best colour scheme' in the office challenge 8-)

Anyone here tried impcat?

https://www.fauxhammer.com/featured/imp ... th-impcat/

It's a really solid virtual model painter. I loaded in the citadel paint list, and a Primaris CSV, and the ultramarine colours I tried look pretty much true to the colours on models I have painted here, which is astounding, at least to my mind.

I've been using it to play around with some custom schemes, and I've made some Welsh space boyos.

That's cool, I often think of schemes but don't want to spend the time executing them only to be kind of unimpressed with it and then have to start all over again not only with the model but basically a new army each time :slol:

What minis does that support? Tyranids and genestealer cults for one but maybe also drop fleet?

That fauxhammer article has a link to a megaupload folder with a couple of 'nid models in it, tyrant guards and termagants, I think.

https://mega.nz/#F!T19wwSyT!4SMrkOuvzP-jsuaTpufFlQ

Obviously this isn't supported by GW, so it's reliant on users creating files for use in the app, but it seems to be building an active community, and there is some official support from Artel W for their miniatures, and Vallejo and Scale 75 for paints.

Check the subreddit of you're after a specific model type to see if anyone's working on it or requested it: https://www.reddit.com/r/impcat/

Actually, you probably have the tools and know how to create your own files, GG, but I couldn't speculate about how much time it might take.

yeah ive used it before, its alright - theres an insta called 40k design a day which does loads of impcat mockups if you want colour ideas

making your own isnt too bad, you need to have a good image to start from, then create vector layers all over it wherever you want different colours to be placeable

Pls, don't tempt me.

Just picked up the new rules book. Decided I want to get my head back into some lore before I pick an army to start. In the meantime I've still got some death guard and stormcast minis to paint, alongside the core skills reaper kit.

I am just too lazy and it feels way too much like work, as colouring blanks and putting stuff on them is literally what I do half the time. GW really should put out a tool like that, just link to the paints and they have a money spinner.

Fortunately I'm selling a lot of stuff to clear space and make some cash back.

In terms of picking armies the rule of cool is paramount rather than chasing the 'meta' or 'competitive' forces, you're going to be staring at your dudes for a long time and not win every game, so you had better like them regardless.

Oh yeah, totally agree. No idea how likely I am to get into any regular games, but I quite like the idea of building a collection of one force or another for now, even if it's just to have it look cool while sat on the shelf.

It's more an issue of trying to narrow it down to just 1 for now. Do I go Battle Sisters, Adeptus Mechanicus, a Space Marine force made entirely of elites or HQs because I just find the standard marines a bit boring, Orks, Chaos, new Necrons, or even T'au?

Choices, choices.

The way you build armies in 40k is with one or more detachments depending on the game size:

Image

So you can have some HQs and elite units, but not go all-out.

One option is to look into Kill Team, its a much smaller skirmish game and you can get a "complete" force out of a couple of squad boxes, maybe just one. That way you can dip into multiple factions, see what you like playing as well as painting before diving in and ending up with a pile of shame like the rest of us.

I know I couldn't field a force of just no troops Space Marines, I just think that a lot of the standard troop choices for them are kind of bland.

Although, as I'm sitting here painting the Death Guard easy to paint kit, with all their fiddly details and nooks and crannies, plain old big panel armoured Astartes suddenly seem a bit more appealing. Maybe it's just the colour schemes of the big chapters that I don't like, and I might have more fun doing one of my own?

Meanwhile, I forgot to post my completed set of Nighthaunts.

Oh my, the new Sigmar box looks tempting. Gorgons vs BDSM elves is very much my jam.

If only I hadn't just picked up the 40k recruit starter set with a load of Egyptian robot skeletons and space chads to paint.

Night Lords are so cute and cheesy with their little bat wings and skull faces. Defs my favourite legion.

Book Nine of those interminable Forge World tomes though :dread:

I may have spontaneously acquired 2x the Necron half of the Indomitus box, now I'm working out how the hell i'm going to paint them as quick/efficiently as possible with a lot of drybrushing, contrast paints and washes.

With Slaanesh in a new AoS box and the next Warhammer Underworlds box it might be too much to hope for more Emperor's Children in 40k, there have been rumours for years about how they're the next army getting an update, for sure, honest guv, although those have been peddled mostly by clickbait youtubers. I do have that Slaanesh half of Wrath and Rapture in the pile of shame, which is teetering closer to the ebay pile day by day. I imagine that combined with the Shadow and Pain half would make a decent Age of Sigmar army... :shifty:
