Since the start of the current generation of consoles there has been a huge decline in the number of games that have cheats and i mean proper cheats e.g. god mode, infinite health etc GTA 4 and the orange box are the only 360 games that i own that have cheats. Now i know alot of people are going to be against cheats but you don't have to use them and i'd be more than happy not to receive achievements while using them and of course they shouldn't be on the multiplayer parts of games. But my gaming abilities often let me down leading me not finish games due to frustration which is incredibly annoying after you have paid £40 for your 10 hours of gameplay. So why have cheats vanished from the majority of games?

Its because the hardcore gamer has finally won and from now on the only setting in games will be "Hard, Bloody hard and Don't bother because you won't win".

Hooray!

I do agree with you that they should be included as surely if you don't want them you don't have to use them.

CHEATING IS WRONG!

Also there's still those Action Replay discs for those wanting to cheat.

I'm all for cheats if it adds to the gameplay, like in San Andreas. I was hugely dissapointed with the cheat selection for GTA IV.

Crackdown's Key to the City mode was great. GTA needed one.

nope can't even get those now i just looked and all they do is save game disks and that is does seem pointless to me i don't load a save to get 100% complete i want to play through the game still.

This. I'm thinking of firing it up to see how quickly I can beat the game in KTTC mode.

I miss novelty cheats like the original Turok's disco mode and the like.
what's wrong with being rewarded for completing a hard shooting game with some all weapons, infinite ammo set ups so you can go back and really give those baddies hell.

Probably less cheats because of the fact that all game saves on the 360 and now the ps3 are tied to the account and cannot be shared.

Some games need cheats, especially when the player encounters a really tough section, (snowstorm anyone? )

Personally, I think great games should have just the right difficulty level, but this is hardly ever found, ocarina of time proved this, as did gta 3.

In respect of the orange box the level select cheat would have been useful for those who did not complete the pc version and left it half way.

Honed over 10-15 years of gaming (probably not in my case, I am nowhere near "teh uber skillz" that some gamers have)
