Yeah it's pretty good, though a little buggy at times, but it's completely different to the first game.

Welcome, Lewis, to Club Wii :toot: . The Wii remains, to me, a classic console; one of my favourites. It has a reputation for shovelware but, in amongst that vast gaming catalogue, there are plenty of excellent titles.

LewisD wrote:...It came with FOUR Wii motion plus remotes (extra long remotes can do one!), three were boxed as new, completely unused...

The Wii Remote Pluses are lovely and to have three brand new ones is terrific!

LewisD wrote:...Was up until 2am playing Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort :toot: :toot: forgot how fun this is was!...

I still hugely rate those collections, moreso Wii Sports Resort. In the sequel, Bowling and Archery are excellent and Table Tennis is simply superb; a wonderful demonstration of just how good the Motion Plus can be with good coding. The feel and accuracy of bat movement in TT is amazing. You can spin and cut the ball just like in the real game.

LewisD wrote:...And then my son woke up this morning and then I casually started a game of tennis without him knowing what it was. His mind was BLOWN TO SMITHEREENS! Using the controller as a tennis racket?...

I still maintain that wielding a Wii Remote (and nunchuk) is a great way of videogaming. Sure, there were a ton of games that used them reallly badly but, when carefully coded, the experience is - for me - up there alongside VR as a new way of gaming.

If you're into shooters, I can recommend House of the Dead Returns, HOTD Overkill, Gunblade NY / LA Machineguns and Ghost Squad as super ways of playing Time Crisis-styled action with the Remote.

And if you're looking for more family-orientated action, Wii Party and Boom Blox are both excellent fun.

I'd forgotten about Eledees! That was terrific.

Some people saw the whole machine as a gimmick but I think in time there will be a revival of Wii games, including some of the more experimental ones, like Boom Blox or Kororinpa (probably spelt wrong, but basically Monkey Ball done well for motion controls, unlike Banana Blitz) or Trauma Center, because some of them are unique experiences with new ideas that you couldn't easily port elsewhere.

Actually, saying that, I wonder if you could port something like Table Tennis onto the Switch, and whether the technology on the joycons is good enough to do that?

My favourite unique Wii game has to be either Zack and Wiki. Z&W was incredibly inventive and criminally overlooked.

Loved Wii Sports and Resort (though never owned it myself and didn't get to play it as much).

As well as obvious choices like Galaxy 1/2 and Twilight Princess, I had so much fun with Warioware Smooth Moves. The Last Story is a good action RPG with a nice world to explore. Also would recommend No More Heroes.

Did have quite a bit of a Wii collection back in a day, I guess because for a while it was my only console aside from the DS with my older consoles sold off. Looking back, wouldn't say a lot of those titles were essential but I enjoyed most of them at the time.

I'm a big big fan of the Wii, my fave things I own are things like Pandoras tower, The last story, etc but there are also a lot of simpler to get games I adore like Smith moves, strikers charged and Sega's military light gun game, I think its ghost squad or something, really can't remember if that's Its real name lol

I like to buy various old Wii games on the cheap at CEX
Played through No more Heroes 1 and 2, picked up MadWorld the other day and I'm looking forward to that

I have ordered a Wii2HDMI adapter from Amazon. My new TV doesn't have component inputs ( :-( ) but I've had my Wii connected up for twelve straight years and I don't intend to stop now!

That would work great for GameCube games as well.

Presumably you know you can play all the Wii games on Wii U though?

Check out my YouTube channel!

Thanks, GG, yeah; I never transferred my Wii games (or game saves) over to the U 'cos I liked the idea of keeping 'em separate.

Great stuff! Looking forward to getting the Wii up and running again!
