Remakes of Ghosts and Goblins and Commando. They have all the levels that were missing from the original releases new music and any glitches fixed etc. Well worth a playthrough for anyone that has the nostalgia for the best 8 bit computer :)

Cool.

I've been wanting to upload some of the new games people make for the old systems then release for free. Retro gamer has a great section each month that has links to them all. Well worth checking out.

Yeah I've played a fair few of them when time and my memory allows. I keep meaning to get on the Bruce Lee sequel, loved the original back in the day and reports suggest this is just as good.

Thanks again for the access to the drive I'll update it with any games I have that aren't already there. You deserve a medal for sorting it out.

Don't know what your talking about mate. :shifty:

Just decided to give Retropie another go around. Originally I had used it as primarily a SNES rom machine, but now I want to make it primarily arcade games only. FBA and lots of old SNK/Capcom fighters on a fightstick is a whole lot of fun. Also true playing all the actual arcade roms of titles that were later ported to the Dreamcast especially shooters such as Gunbird2.

Following on from the post I made in the Mega Drive Mini thread yesterday, I downloaded and had a play around with the Blast16 frontend on my Pi and I'm pretty impressed.

http://www.blast16project.com/

Unlike Retropie which always feels like a frontend for emulators, this does feel like a "Mini" system. It's pretty slick and even has the save state images. It also has built in support for Retroflag cases and pads, as well as 8bitDo. So you can use the retroflag MD case, which has working power and reset buttons as well as the new Wireless MD controllers that they have released.

I still need to refine my set up and you need to provide your own images (I don't think there's a built in scraper), but once you've transferred the roms over, it "just works".

Oooh that does look nice. I may give it a look myself.

I've enjoyed my use of Retropie but I 100% agree with what you are saying there Cheeky, it doesn't manage to give off that same feel as the official mini systems and so I have ended up playing it less than I expected to, even though I have got 100s of games on there.

Just had a look at some of that Retroflag kit as well, some really nice looking stuff.

I really enjoyed reading through your thread about converting the iCade btw. If I had more time on my hands I would definitely look at doing something similar!

I recently got a 3B+ and been playing around with some UIs. Retropie seems the best overall but I actually prefer Recalbox. The UI is beautiful even if its a little more limited for customisation. Any other ones I should try out?

In terms of ones that are actually worth a damn, Retropie and Recalbox are really all there is.

Blast16 is a great newcomer, but it only deals with Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Mega CD and 32x.

I always found ePSXe did a good job. Although the latest version that I used had some minor comparability issues. For example Dragon Warrior VII didn’t run properly.

That's cool do you have much experience with Recalbox? Trying to figure out how to add bezels for different consoles.

Not much. I gave it a quick look but really preferred Retropie almost straight away. There will be some guides out there, but I've never done it myself.

It was great fun to build. I keep meaning to finish it off so to speak as I want to wipe the pi and put a full working romset on it with screen bezels.

Just spotted that The Great Ace Attorney fan translation is complete :toot: :toot:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/update-the-great-ace-attorney-complete-english-patch-released.534767/

Will give it a try over the summer, preferably on a 3DS. I don't suppose anyone uses / knows about 3DS flashcarts / CFW?

Still have Ace Attorney Investigations 2 (and the rest of Spirit of Justice) in the backlog too :shifty:

Having never tried PS1 emulation beforeI just have a couple of questions:
a) what's the 'best' PS1 emulator on the PC?

b) do I need to download both the .cue and .bin files for each game?

Edit: nevermind about the first question.

Retroarch has a bunch of decent PS1 cores to use. I use Beetle HW I think.

Yes, get both files for the games you want.

So how good is a Raspberry Pi for emulation of the Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 these days?
I'd quite like to set up something to emulate those on my living room TV if it's fairly feasible.

Saturn I don't think is very good at all.
N64 is better, but some games will still run poorly, even if you overclock the Pi. If they are the main systems you want to look at, then the Pi isn't really up to scratch.
PS1 however runs beatifully.

Yeah those were the two main systems. I've got a modded PS Classic already for PS1 emulation.

I suppose I could take a look at setting up Retroarch on my PC and see about streaming that via the Steam Link I have in the living room.

Anybody know the best Saturn/N64 cores to look at for Retroarch?

Scratch what I just said. Looks like N64, PSP and hopefully Saturn will potentially see a performance boost.

They've just announced and stealth launched the Raspberry Pi 4.

https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker ... t-ethernet

Comes in 1,2 and 4 Gb RAM versions, with the 4Gb being the most expensive at £55.

https://thepihut.com/collections/raspbe ... 4052740158

Time for an upgrade I think.
