The dark filter can be removed, as per this GBAtemp thread. It's all Greek to me, though, so I'm afraid I can't offer much help.

As for Wii stuff, you can store VC injects on the one Wii U hard drive. You can use another separate hard drive for the Wii side, but there's really no point. You can run Wii/GC/WiiWare/VC from the SD slot, and SD cards are dirt cheap these days.

I use Nintendont on mine and don't inject GC games, just pop the ISO's on my SD card and they play through that. I also use ColdBootHaxchi if that makes a difference.


I used USB helper to create the injects and that worked for F-Zero but Eternal Darkness still causes the Wii U to shutdown so I've no idea what the problem is!

Nope, has access to all VC games that can be played on via Wii U.

Do you use Homebrew Launcher? Before Coldboot I’d have to start the Homebrew Launcher via the browser then select the Mocha option from what I remember.

Any idea how to get the .n64 formatted Roms to inject N64 games that weren’t on the Eshop?

All the ones in the folder are z64

USB helper needs .n64

This tutorial and tool will work for z64 to n64. Just make sure you choose "little endian" in step 4 instead of "big endian".

Another question. When I try to get GC games off USB helper it’s asks for a very specific iso (generally PAL versions). The ones on the folder are generally US I think. Any idea if it would work if I use the wrong one?

The injects runs via Nintendont, which accepts any region of iso, so wondering it could be fine?

I'd be inclined to say no, but I haven't tried it.

If you filter the game list by region, they might have USA versions of the injects?

Any tips for troubleshooting a GC inject (PAL Metroid prime) that is going to black screen? Using mocha and getting everything else running fine via injects so not sure what the issue is. First launch is loading the Nintendont screen to create a memory card for it then black screen. After that the memory card bit doesn’t load unless I delete the save from my SS card.

I had the game running through Nintendont as an iso prior to figuring out injects. I’m wondering if there’s some kind of config file left over or something like that which could interfere?

My mate sent me a WUP folder to install directly and that gave the same error as the inject I created myself.

Best advice I can offer is to fiddle with the config options for Nintendont when you're creating the inject. Toggle the memory card emulation options on and off, see if changing anything there works.

I can't remember if TeconMoon gives you the option, but Nintendont can emulate individual memory cards for each game, or one big memory card for every game. If it boots to that screen but crashes afterwards, it could be that the inject crashes with one option or the other.

I tried that. No joy. I’ve ran the iso through Nintendont directly and that works on. Not sure what the issue is. My mate can use the same inject and I’ve tried creating ones with a different iso but the same snag. Pain in the arse!

Ah, I'm out of ideas then, I'm afraid. :(

This is exactly why I gave up on injects. If it's not one thing, it's the next. Now I just use a forwarder channel for USB Loader GX, and run everything from the SD card.

Another question. Is there any benefit to me running NTSC Roms rather than pal for GameCube games? I know the NTSC GameCube could do pro scan, but does that matter when playing in wiiU?

I shouldn't think so. Nintendont gives you the option to force 480p on PAL games, so I think they should be more or less the same?

Makes no difference if you're forcing 480p via Nintendont. I would leave all games in their 4:3 aspect ratio and run black bars down the side as well. The 16:9 standard doesn't scale up to modern TV resolutions and it'll look weird and behave strangely visually.

Fixed my Metroid issue. Turned off force widescreen and force pro scan and that seems to have sorted it. Not sure which was the problem.
