Cheers guys. How is DS or 3DS emulation? Does it work well?

I should caveat this by saying I’m playing in a 2013 macbook which struggles a little with some GC games on dolphin.

3DS has Citra. Some games run phenomenally, some don't but it's a great emulator and in the next year I can see it being at Dolphin levels of compatibility.

DS is generally a bit of a mixed bag. Most things can be run and well, but I don't think any of the emulators are all that good. It's a damning state of affairs when the best emulator for the system is on Android and not PC (Drastic).

I've found DeSmuMe to be the best DS emulator on PC, it'll run most games pretty well but has trouble with the sound occasionally.

There's also No$GBA which, while primarily a GBA emulator, now has DS emulation too, it's not quite as good as the above for compatibility but will play certain games DeSmuMe struggles with and has slightly better sound in some cases.

DeSmuMe is a bit hit and miss. It's been around long enough that it really should be much better than it is, but it's just not. Plus the team of guys working on it come across as a bunch of twats, which doesn't help.

It puts me off playing DS stuff a lot of the time.

It's a shame that DS games don't work on... Citra? or is it Cemu.

Citra is 3DS.

Yeah, that one.

It's a shame that Citra doesn't have the backwards compatibility like an actual 3DS.

Yeah I saw that. Not too surprised given how far Yuzu's come along in such a short amount of time. Odyssey in a remarkably playable state too in recent times. BSoDGaming's a good youtube channel for following that emulator's (and other developing emulators') development.

I've not tried Yuzu yet. Mostly because it's still very early days for it. Once it's a bit closer to Cemu/Citra levels of performance I'll be getting more interested though.

How does touch screen stuff work when emulating DS/3DS games?

On PC? Most emulators have layout options so you can decide where to place the screens. Generally you use the mouse to interact with it. Though if you scroll back a page or two you can see an experimental set up I had where I was streaming the touchscreen parts of the emulator to a tablet which allowed me to use it with touch support. :datass:

Your skin creates a voltage drop at the part of the screen that you touch, this information is then processed and visualised on the screen.

You get Rocket League and stuff working well on that tiny PC?

Tbh I grabbed it all and haven't used it as I'm gonna give the pc to my eldest, but he has most things on PS4, but games like Sims 4 he'll want on PC.

I got Rocket League running reasonably well on it. Had to turn a load of settings down, but it runs well enough. Was pretty surprised that it runs FIFA 19 reasonably well (Again, with settings down and gooseberry fool load times) too.

Hoping to get some RAM and 8BitDo controllers for it over Christmas just to help up it's capabilities a little.

Installed Cemu's latest build as I haven't used it in a long time (1.18 was the last version I had I think) but Super Mario 3D World (or is it Land? The Wii U one) seems worse off performance wise. Maybe I need to bang the emulator and games on my SSD instead and see if that makes a difference.

Sounds pretty sweet for the low cost. Can't complain about that.

So out of curiosity I gave Yuzu a try tonight.

Odyssey is borderline unplayable, but it boots into the game. It'll be good to see the performance increase over time.

I can however play Puyo Puyo Tetris and Cave Story+ at full speed. :datass:

Out of interest what specs does your pc have Jazzem?

Also, I try to download whole folders on the google drive and it gets stuck trying to zip the folder before downloading it. Any reason why this would be?

GTX 1070
i5 6600
16GB RAM

So it's not likely to be a hardware quirk, think it's more likely just some games have inherent stutter or such at present in Dolphin.
