I don't suppose you could source the GC version of Wrath of Cortex could you, Dev?

Check in 40 minutes or so.

I'm not familiar with this - do you mean it's possible to have GameCube games playable using the gamepad controls?

It is, yeah. I used this program to inject the games into a VC Wii game base, and used the Nintendont files from this guide to make them playable with gamepad controls.

I don't really understand the above. I played Mario Party 7 yesterday using the GC wavebird. Nintendont itself is fully compatible with all official GameCube controllers. I didn't have to do any special trickery or anything: plug controller in, turn on Wii, launch game.

Edit: Oh you're talking about Wii U.

Remember I was pulling my hair out trying to get my wiiU to recognise n64 Roms? Turns out it is recognising each rom as a weird file starting with a . Then the name, which are invalid. At the end of the list of rims however it then has the actual games which run fine!

When I look in the SD card I can’t see the Roms in the wonky format, but I would like to clear them out as the emulator I’m using now imports box art etc, but it looks shy having half the list invalid Roma with no box art.

Glad you got it sorted. I don't know why but the ._ makes me think it's got something to do with your Mac. But that's the only thing I can think of.

Anyway, I was playing about with the Metroid Prime 4K Texture Packs last night. It's one of the AI generated ones that people are upscaling PS1 games with, and it looks absolutely stunning.

EDIT: Actually this isn't the best video. It's only 1080p and youtube compresses the hell out of the image causing artefacting. When he stands still though, look at things like door textures. It's crazy though that we can now play MP in 4K with fully upscaled textures at 60fps and it's only a matter of time until it gets applied to other games. Hell the Final Fantasy games are already looking gorgeous with it.

EDIT: This is what it can do. Normal upscaling will result in a blurry mess of an image (Like the nearest neighbour one below). ESRGAN use a neural net trained on other images to extrapolate what it "should" look like and upscales it accordingly.

So all those movies and tv shows where guys suddenly "Enhanced" really poor video or pictures? They can actually do that for real now.

Can you do VC injects with N64 & GC games on Wii (not Wii U)?

Hah, that's great. I'd be all over that if I wasn't using my pc for that sort of thing now.

So, how does it work exactly? I'm reading the link from last night and it sounds like you need to tweak it for each game?

I'll stick them up just now. Should be ready later tonight.

Well for GC games I just downloaded the pack that guy had made, stuck it in the "load/textures" folder, set my advanced graphics settings to use "Custom Textures" and "Precache custom textures" and it just ran it.

If you want to make your own, you would need the AI tools, and a way to dump the textures (Dolphin lets you do this). You would then run those textures through the tool and then plug them back in.

It's not quite as plug and play as that, there is still tweaking and cleaning up to do, but it makes the process so much faster. Best bet is to look for the packs made by other people. It's still early days though and I believe people have only been using this for the past month or so.

It's possible with N64 games, but compatibility is abysmal. Most games flat out crash before starting, and the ones that don't aren't even worth playing.

GC works a bit differently, in that you'd need a forwarder channel. Rather than injecting the ISO into a VC game, a forwarder channel will just point towards a directory and load it with your chosen backup loader, which will basically achieve the same effect.

Is that any different to me loading up Nintendont via Homebrew and selecting from directory?

I wouldn’t bother, download Wii64 and put that in your apps folder and you’re away. I’ve found it’s running fairly well with most stuff. Turok 2 is the only thing so far I’ve found that is a big mess.

Not really, it just does that for you when you boot the channel.

NFS: Most Wanted
NFS: Underground
NFS: Underground 2
NFS: Hot Pursuit 2
NFS: Carbon

Uploading GC versions of these tonight, so should be available tomorrow.

What Ridge Racer games you looking for in particular?

As far as I can tell I have all the RR games up till the PSP ones. The 360 and PS3 ones might be out there, but it's harder to get games for those systems right now.

Haha sorry guys. I keep thinking of other things I want to try. Devlin did say he enjoys hunting them down ;)

I can’t remember which Ridge Racer game. There was a GC one mentioned in a YouTube video I was watching which looked quite fun.

Also, any chance of getting DOOM for the snes up?
