The RAM boost is nice but it doesn't look like the Pi 4 is going to have a huge amount more grunt than the 3, but every little helps I guess.

People looking to use a Pi for running servers are going to be pleased with the improvements to the network interface though! :toot:

What sort of controllers are you people using with your emulators?

I started out with a wired 360 pad but the B button sticks now. I recently picked up a Retro-Bit NES pad which I've been using for NES and Master System games and really like it so I've been considering getting both a SNES and Mega Drive pad from them too.

8bitDo SF30 Pro for myself on PC and Switch.

Though they've discontinued that specific version of it.

Their M30 (MegaDrive) pad is apparently really nice too.

I pair them with their wireless adapter (Though plain USB works too), and there's even retro-receivers that allow you to use them on original hardware.

I had also been using Scp Toolkit to connect PS3 and PS4 pads to my laptop but it can be a bit temperamental.

SCP was good yeah. Still has it's place, but I've not used it at all since getting my 8bitdo pad.

Anyone took the plunge on a Pi4 yet?

Still trying to decide whether to pull the trigger on the 2gb version, or wait for the (currently OoS) 4gb version. Was a nice surprise to see it had launched though :toot:

Not yet.

Gonna give it a month or two for stock to come in and for Retropie to get a few update.

Need to get new cables, power supply and cases.

Looking forward to it though.

I think I need to be looking at a new emulation machine. The laptop I'm using now isn't very good to say the least. I think at the very least I should consider backing up my games externally in the event that it gives up the ghost.

I might make the jump to the Pi4 when the mini console cases start rolling in, it depends if they make any significant leaps with N64 emulation. I pretty much have everything else I want on it right now.

That said, a resolution bump for the PSX wouldn't go amiss...

After having a great time with my SNES Mini this past fortnight, I finally got around to putting Nintendont on the Wii U, as I don't think I'll ever use it online again. It's a big improvement, but not completely satisfied with it yet, so will have to tinker with it a little more. Am also curious to see how Dolphin handles Wii games on my computer, have only stuck to GC titles in the past, so will try to pair up a Wii remote and see how they compare.

Need to setup an N64 emulator too. Is Project64 still the way to go, or has Retroarch taken over?

Nearly finished setting up the Wii U now, got all my physical games on the HDD digitally, along with injects of some of my Wii and GC games.

The only thing I haven't cracked yet is US Wii games, so haven't been able to get Trauma Team working, but hopefully can find a fix this week.

Might have a look at 3DS CFW over the weekend, as I'd like to play the fan translated Ace Attorney games on the actual hardware.

Sounds good man.

I've not done much softmodding and I'll be leaving my Wii U well enough alone, but it's always nice to see what can be done with them.

I used to love looking into this stuff, but as small emulation systems have become cheaper and more viable I've been leaning towards them where possible and leaving the original hardware "as is".

So Yuzu now boots Smash Ultimate and can get into gameplay.

The offline aspects of Mario Maker 2 are also pretty much perfect now as well.

So apparently Retroarch is coming to Steam.

https://www.pcgamesn.com/retroarch-steam

Could be very interesting and open it up to a much wider audience.

Anyone had any success getting ScummVM working on an android device?

Really fancy playing monkey Island on my lunch breaks.

Has anyone else tried that Resident Evil 3 HD mod for the Gamecube version via Dolphin? Looks bloody great, the difference it makes is unbelievable. Only gave it a quick try but definitely going to do a run through of it rather than my planned run through on the Vita.

I will admit that I've not really dabbled with RPCS3 too much. The games aren't easy to find and when you do they are often massive in size.

That said, I'm hoping to get myself a massive hard-drive at some point later in the year and start acquiring more.

But it's an extremely impressive emulator.

Some really interesting progress made on a few emulators recently.

RPCS3, Yuzu and Xenia updates:

Xenia getting better and better (Even more so than in the previous vid).

Retroarch has a couple of cool new features as well.

Built in Text to Audio and Translation tools.

Physical CD-ROM support (Use official game discs with RetroArch cores)
