That's right, it's time to get this train upright and back on its tracks after the tumultuous fail that was attempt number one.
Of course it wasn't a complete fail, just an idea shot through with errors in judgement and perhaps bad timing. Now though? The Wii is looking set to enter a minor revival with the likes of Goldeneye, Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong, and Kirby all out fairly soon so perhaps it's time you dusted off those controllers and joined in with the waggle eh?
But of course version 2 is not simply a case of picking the thread up and dusting it off, it's also the time when we shake it down and dust off its shoulders with a few tweaks to the formula.
- Each game will feature a maximum of only ten 'active' leaderboards for point accrual in an effort to curb scale tipping games like Geometry Wars and focus competition for new games games such as Galaxy 2.
All leaderboards will still be active mind, I appreciate the efforts of those from before and don't want to delete all that copy pasting, but the ten from each game will be made obvious and hopefully focus competition.
- Competitions will be less quirky, at the start at least.
- Casual banter and challenge inquiries are encouraged, and I will endeavour to change the thread title and highlight an evening of Mario Kart for example.
- Changing polls to entice more conversation.
*NOTE* Most of these changes aren't in place yet, but will be soon. Give me a minute.
Wii Got Game...
Wii players eh? Most hardcore of the lot if you ask me. Sitting around all year long for Nintendo to release a lackluster version of Animal Crossing? Only the most devout can wait through that and still queue up like rabid dogs for the next title.
But while other systems flounder with tens of good games worth playing, the Wii has a noteworthy stable of titles that are simply good, honest virtual entertainment. From the Smashing of the Bros. to the Karting, bouncing plumbers, trigger happy youngsters and anime fighting crossovers the Wii has got plenty of games worth playing and playing again, and not just so you can get to rank 43 in multiplayer and unlock that camo paint for your favourite machine gun…
And that’s where this thread steps in, a thread with the intention of cultivating some lively entertainment on this generations quality underdog in the absence of real online friends list and leaderboards or extensive DLC support. So to keep players playing I’ll be hosting a little highscore leaderboard competing right here in this thread which will double up as a discussion for all things Wii.
The premise is simple; below you’ll find a selection of games each with a selection of leaderboards to them, all you have to do is go play the game and come up with a score to contribute to the board, either post it in here or pm me it. I shant demand evidence, we’re all friends here, but if you do want to contribute a video or photo it would be appreciated and highlighted.
Alongside each individual leaderboard every game will contain a master board whilst the entire endeavor will be overshadowed by the Grandmaster Leaderboard. These rankings take into account the player’s position on a challenge and apply points to them to create an overall score and position on the board so you can see how you’re doing.
Don’t think you can storm your way to the top of a leaderboard by playing games no-one else is touching, oh no, scores will be worked out as a base score plus an additional 20 points per player beaten. This means that while you may get 10 points for entering a time on a Galaxy 2 level no-one else is playing, earning a new high score on a level that has numerous entrants will yield far higher results. There are also even more points up for grabs on specific games for entering a score without particular assists, such as a House of the Dead: Overkill score without the on screen aimer, or playing at a higher difficulty level. Oh and it's not limited to five entrants per board, that's just a good number of placeholder entries.
Additionally this thread will work as a friend code hub for any games that allow them, making it the one stop thread for organizing online multiplayer sessions.
You want more? Fine! Every fortnight the thread will run a tournament/challenge on a chosen game, be it an online multiplayer tournament or a highlighted challenge, these will serve as fun point boosters to the grandmaster leaderboard.
Too Long; Didn’t Read you stupid ranting loony. What’s this thread about?
Competition and discussion for all the best Wii games; leaderboards, individual game leaderboards, a master leaderboard and fortnightly unique tournaments and challenges. Fed up being abused by teenagers on xbox live? Thought so, go grab a high score on Sin & Punishment 2 instead; the only person to disappoint there is yourself. However this thread is also a hub to organize online Wii sessions as well, get organizing!
THE GAMES
Below is a list of the games and their criteria, if a game does not appear that you are the grand master at then simply request it, supplying me with the relevant information, and I shall add it and its own league to the list. Furthermore if a challenge doesn’t appear in a game that you wish to be added, simply say.

NEWS
5/11/10
Let's try again shall we...
28/8/10
Competition heats up as Dr Cottle fights back in the violent future of angles and lines, dethroning Errol from this particular leaderboard.
It's not enough to shake the lurker from his mighty position on the grandmaster leaderboard however, but Cottle has set his sights.
Will Errol fight back and reclaim some of his positions? Or is Cottle destined for the number one slot.
Today also saw the unveiling of the first competition, the Smash Brow Brawl Movie Scene. Now is time for the more creative members to show their skills when put to the forum vote.
27/8/10
New boy Errol comes out fighting and launches to the top of the grandmaster leaderboard with his dominance of Geometry Wars, and impressive Karting skills.
23/8/10
Mocky throws down some fightin' words, signs of a bright future for this thread.
22/8/10
Movers and shakers, Herbi and Dr Cottle, storm the leaderboards with chart topping Mario Kart and Geometry Wars scores respectively. Indeed Mario Kart competition seems to be heating up with quite a bit of competition.
House of the Dead appears to be the most sought after board from the vocally interested, however the boards are yet to see any action. Those zombies won't slaughter themselves you know.
21/8/10 -
A nice slab of interest which is nice, and a new contender has entered the ranks in the form of Mockmaster, setting a score for Super Mario Galaxy 2's Flip Swap Galaxy! Well done.
Hopefully after this small step others will take the leap that is score submission. Come on guys, I'm doing the hard work, you've just got to have fun!
20/8/10 – Thread up and running, damn that took a lot of work. Hoping there is a show of interest before announcing the first tournament.

HotD Overkill, Geometry Wars and MKwii seem like my bag. I'll get the scores for the first two sometime this weekend. I think I need to work on the Mario Kart stuff.
Great stuff, just what I needed to encourage me to dust of Geometry Wars and to finally finish HotD: Overkill. I'll submit scores as soon as I check them.
