Really makes me want that Trilogy HD remake even more.

All three look lovely with just basic upscaling on Dolphin, but Corruption does have some slightly fancier effects going on with it so it looks even nicer.

Yes it's just prime 3 running at 2556x1440 rather than turdxturd will resolution.

I’d definitely give it a go if my PC was up to scratch for gaming but alas its not. Only way I’ve played 3 was via the Trilogy release on the Wii U eShop which I presume looked identical to the Wii version.

Yes they're the same. I ripped my favourite Wii games so this is my actual copy running on it

Shame the caching as it happens leads to horrendous stuttering.

It's the shader generation. You can tweak some of the settings to make it far less noticable.

https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Metroid_Prime_3:_Corruption_(Wii)#Shader_Compilation_Stuttering

TLDR - enable ubershaders and "Compile shaders before starting"

EDIT: I should add that apart from the resolution increase that was the only tweak I had to make when playing through all three Prime games from the Trilogy edition. Dolphin is a marvelous emulator.

You'd be surprised. The £180 PC I put together a few months ago could run Dolphin really well. Even up to 4K. I even had Cemu running well on it. :D

Cool thanks Devlin, I'll try that later.

Hey, would you mind expanding on that? What are the specs of your PC?

Can't remember the exact spec but I think it's an i3 @2.5Ghz, with a small form factor GeForce1030 and 4Gb Ram. Went on eBay and got a cheap Dell Optiplex 3120 for £100 and bought the graphics card.

I basically copied this video.

I'll update it once I've had a chance to look at the spec I got.

Thanks for that. I have no gfx card in my PC, but have a decent processor and plenty of RAM. I'm keen on Wii emulation, especially, so am tempted by this approach. Cheers.

My PC is just a pre built Lenovo (cant remember the model) that’s generally pretty good for day to day stuff and playing a few older games via Steam, doubt it could handle anything too intensive really. Think its an AMD A8 2.0 GHz quad core APU with 1GB integrated graphics, 8GB RAM and a 1TB HDD (no SSD for me!). I really dont touch it too often though, only really turn it on to keep windows up to date and putting new music onto my iPad and phone.

That video is certainly something to consider if I fancied building my own someday (obviously with slightly updated parts in the future).

I had to wait for the graphics card to come, but even just with the onboard graphics I could run Dolphin and Citra (At their base resolutions) and they were perfectly playable.

Got about an hour in on prime 3 tonight. Just got the grapple swing thing. Wanted to stop at half 9, was 45 mins before I found a save point and that was only because I needed to stop and didn't know how much further one would be. And strawberry float using save states.

Surely that's a hi res texture pack? I barely made my way into Corruption. I even finished Other M. And I got stuck in MP2 as well. I should get back into them.

I got Ridley amiibo today, he's awesome.

No it's just the base game in a higher res. It really looks great.

Stuttering is mostly gone, I think I need to experiment with different ubershader settings but it's not too bad any more.

That's some pretty impressive texturing then, definitely a step over GC.

I have the collection on Wii U, I really must replay in widescreen HDMI.

I played mp2 about a year ago a bit on my PVM. Such a smooth game and looked really immersive on a hi res CRT like that. Just a bit small for long play.
