You've only got about 2 hours and 15 minutes to buy the best trilogy ever. Do it!

Last night I went into the Phazon Mines and picked up the Power Bomb before quitting. Reading about the Space Pirates' experiments with Phazon and creating Elite Pirates is very interesting stuff and helps to flesh out the background of the game. I prefer games that make you look for the story because it gives me the chance to focus on the gameplay if I want to, like when I first played this.

I found a save point in a room next to the Power Bomb so I'll pick up from there tonight. I did a bit of exploring and found a huge corridor with pools of Phazon and some Metroids. I disabled the shield and the Metroids fed on the Space Pirates in the room I was in before I destroyed the Metroids. 8-)

Remember, you've only got about 2 hours and 15 minutes to buy the best trilogy ever. Do it!

Just snapped it up. I finally found an SD to USB adapter I had lying around, not the best one but it'll do.

The 32GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10 (45MB/s) micro SD card I picked up for £10 in Tesco.. in an SD card adapter, in a USB SD card reader.. Well it seems to be working fine.

Didn't need a £40+ external HDD I'll never fill up if it's only for Wii U.

I think I've been playing this on the standard setting but I read that the hard setting is the equivelant of the standard setting for Metroid Prime. Is that true?

That's true. The OP has information about that and other aspects of the game. I heartily recommend the control scheme in the OP because it's much better than the default controls.

This game is strawberry floating beautiful even on SD. I never had a good TV originally, always palying on whatever 14/21 inch CRT I had through composite and :dread: RF.

This looks amazing and in widescreen too :)

And you can move through the levels so quickly with the new controls, it doesn't feel "plodding" like it used to, and even running off my SD card areas load pretty much instantly!

Silky smooth 60fps. What happened to that standard?

Playing this has reminded me how utterly awful the Wiimote could be sometimes.

The Wiimote. Ruining perfectly good games since 2006.

Seriously though, there are a handful of games with motion controls that work well with it and the Prime games are amongst the best. In fact it seems to me that it's at it's best when used as a pointing device. The less said about how they helped ruin Skyward Sword the better.

I went deeper into the Phazon Mine and ended up finding and elevator to Magmoor Caverns. I did a bit of backtracking to get a power bomb expansion before heading to Chozo Ruins to get the Wavebeam. I'm now going to try to find some new paths using the power bomb.

Got this but finding the wii remote way to sensitive and it just feels plain odd. It fine for all WiiU games. Really need twin sticks for fps gaming.

It's cocktail time!. Then again when isn't it.

I'm doing fine with the wiimote. Possibly better than I would with dual sticks.

The controls are perfect with the wiimote.

And that's the only time I'll ever type those words.

I had trouble adjusting to dual analogs after using the mouse for years when I tried TimeSplitters 2 on Dolphin and Nintendont but I had no problem getting to grips with the Wiimote in Prime. I'd say that the Wiimote in Prime is easily better than dual analogs but not as good as a mouse.

I managed to find the X-Ray visor and grapple bream before dinner so I'm looking forward to uncovering more secrets with them. My first port of call will be Phendrana Edge and the Thardus boss room.

Playing this game without hints really eases up the burden of fetch quests as I find myself looking at the map for new areas to explore and uncovering artifacts while exploring. I know that if I had hints on, I'd just make a beeline for them and a lot of artifacts would pile up as I'm guided on a specific path which might not put as many artifacts in my way.

I've now picked up the plasma beam and a couple more artifacts. Traversing Tallon IV is getting a bit tiresome and I wish that it was possible to warp to elevator points like bonfires in Dark Souls. Sometimes I find myself with a new item and I have to cross a whole area before I get to use it. The world is designed very well and I loved seeing new paths open up to connect each area but I think that a fast travel option would be very welcome after a certain point.

Now I have a Phazon Suit. Ho-ho-ho.

The Phazon Mines have been the most challenging part of the game in terms of enemies. Samus was down to her last health tank before I got the power bomb and the Omega Pirate nearly wiped out all her health. Thankfully the pirate scrubs dropped 100 unit health pick ups so I beat it on my first attempt :datass:

Before quitting, I had a look at my log book. I've got 96% of scans and there are only four unknown entries. One is an artifact and the other three are creatures. I wonder what they could be...

It's time to go item hunting!
