I always felt like Prime 3 got some unfair criticism when it came out.

It doesn't have as strong a start as the first two games, not helped by the setting as it's a little awkward watching Samis interact with other humans and characters.

But I always thought it was a really strong entry in the series. I replayed it a few years back and while the two GC games take a while to get used to due to the tank controls, 3 was really smooth and intuitive.

I think it doesn't help that the game was released at the tail end of 2007, when there were a big number of amazing games out, not least Mario Galaxy on the same system.

Prime 3 is better than Prime 2. It had to be made that way. The galactic conflict had escalated. It was never going to have that feeling of isolation that was so ingrained in the series.

All the Prime games are great tbh. 1>3>2

I just wish the aiming reticle were more like that in 1 & 2. Having a big neon dot kinda hindered the immersion. The music was also not as good as previous games.

There are a few standout tracks from it. The credits theme from that game might be one of my favourite tracks from the Trilogy. I also like the Skytown music.

I don't really much else about the OST.

There are a couple of top tier tracks, but the quantity is pretty low compared to the first two games.

First game has the best soundtrack by far. I love that space pirates theme.

The pirate combat music? Eurgh, that was one of the low points of the soundtrack to me. :slol:

Phendrana, the various Chozo Ruins tracks, Tallon IV overworld, all much better.

Phendrana is fantastic. I love the way the Tallon IV overworld theme changes about halfway through the game.

Looks like the left bank of LEDs on my dolphin bar have burnt out in less than 3 hours of use :|

No more metroid for me then.

Edit you should see the workaround I've come up with

Dolphin bar still in use but hidden, Wii U plugged in and running in Wii mode on the gamepad, gamepad propped under my monitor idling on the menu screen. It works better than the Dolphin bar on its own

The state of this

I know :( :( :( I think in 3 its set up so you don't have to fetch everything but then that means you get the weaker ending or something.

I hated the fetch quest in Metroid Prime 2 from what I recall, things like this just break up the flow of the game. Hoping 4 won’t have one.

My Christmas day game has been Metroid Samus Returns. Just at the third area and I feel I have a huge amount of abilities already. Very little backtracking being enforced, which is welcome to this point. A little disappointed not to have had a proper boss fight yet.

Now won the fight for the Super Bombs and gooseberry fool got real very quickly :slol: That took me about fifteen attempts and my hands are cramped as hell. Being back on the 3DS after the luxury of the Switch is horrible.

As I'm using a DS again, what's Metroid Prime Hunters like for it?

Imagine your hand has become locked in a painful claw position. That's what you'll be like after playing it.

Some of the fights are a real nightmare! I quickly learned to be wary of every Metroid encounter. :slol:

I see. Are there any other Metroid games available for the platform?
