No I'm not. What a silly response.

There's a vast swathe of debate going on right now about this decision. To try to make out it's a black and white no-brainer is frankly ridiculous.

Forcing everybody down the hardware security path if they want to carry on using Windows was not the only option they could have taken.

It unlocks more for the future.

TPM can be used to store tokens for all sort of stuff, it can be a step towards extra security for programs, websites etc. not just hardware.

By forcing the issue they create the baseline and the "what will be available" if they half arsed it it would take decades to enact change.

Microsoft has historically been terrible and pushing change and support billions of options for forever which leads it I credibly complicated software and odd bugs, this is a change to that and its good.

Change and progress is a good thing.

But all of that is highly debatable. It doesn't make what I said "wrong" is the point I'm making.

Had my first crash since upgrading today.

Decided to join the queue for a PS5 on game.co.uk. Came back to check on it and was presented with a black screen. Had to force the laptop off but it turned back on fine.

Lost the chance to queue for a PS5. To be fair I can't really afford one anyway.

The news of the new update slowing down Ryzen cpu during some workloads even more than the original amount found. Hard pass for a bit for me.

Updated my laptop to Windows 11.

The only complaint I really have so far is with the Start Menu. Not the new location, but the fact that they've completely removed the ability to have custom groups. Now you've got nothing but every pinned item all in one place or just a huge list of apps. So basically I'm stuck with either just having a big smush of everything in one place in my Start Menu, or going back to the days of having Desktop Icons for games. Just seems like a huge step backwards in terms of user friendliness, and is a design decision I just cannot understand at all.

I hated it to start with, but came to realise I generally just hit the start key, type the name of what I want and open it, so it ended up not being as much of an issue as I thought.

Finally got round to updating to Windows 11.Turned out I needed to go into the Laptop BIOS and enable TPM (no idea why it was set to disabled).

Moved the taskbar icons back to the left where they belong and removed the "chat" icon from occupying a permanent taskbar icon.

My laptop was already pretty high spec and fast but it actually feels even speedier which I didn't expect. Tend to associate OS upgrades on phones with slowing the phone down and that the same would apply to a laptop!

These were my findings too. I wonder if its more optimised for solid state drives?

We've just upgraded our work machines to Windows 11. Have they removed the option to turn on taskbar labels entirely? :dread: Can I not turn off the grouping of same-program windows? :fp: First impressions of a fancy new update and the only noticable difference is missing functionality (apart from the obvs centralised start menu. No new ideas? Rip off Apple :toot: ).

Not the best start :slol:

I keep getting the below message on the Windows update screen, despite there not being any updates to install. The one optional update is a display driver that replaces my Radeon software, and didn't remove the message even when I did install it.

Is this because I haven't upgraded to 11?
