Makes sense for them to make touch Office a Windows 9 exclusive at this point.

Microsoft are notorious for internal strife. It's like the strawberry floating Hunger Games in there.

Imagine selling a subscription to Office and then making a touchscreen version exclusive to Windows 9. That'd be super smart.

No, it would make no sense, but I can totally see them doing it. MS have a track record of trying to alienate people.

True but Satya Nadella is changing alot at Microsoft already, I think we may see a smarter MS coming on.

Look at Office on iPad Balmer refused to let it happen, Nadella is here and is already changing things.

Office on iPad was well into development before Nadella took over.

I've heard rumors that Windows 9 will be fully cross platform; so anything that runs on a pc will run on a tablet or a phone (taking into account available resources, of course). If true that would be pretty amazing. I might even consider getting a phone with Windows 9 if it actually functions as a pc in your pocket. I don't think it will work out entirely like that though.

Windows Phone 9 won't have the desktop, obviously.

The on all devices bit refers to marketplace apps. You wont be able to just install what ever on your phone.

That's not exclusive to Windows 9 though, both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 support universal apps.

They do, but in 9 there are incentives for devs to put things on all platforms.

Any chance Windows 9 will be £20 for early adopters like Windows 9 was?

I'm really liking the idea of a single Windows across all devices with the experience tailored for each device type.

Can't help but think Microsoft are missing out on the next big expansion phase for ecosystems though, Android and iOS (along with their app stores) are coming in the following months.

Doubt I'll use the live tiles, the Notification Centre renders them useless, just like it has done on Windows Phone.
