Was just in Tesco’s when I noticed this

A new video game magazine! In this day and age! £3 an issue and it seemed ok, I never picked it up as I rarely read mag’s anymore but it’s interesting that a new mag is on the market.

Anyone picked it up? Website is https://wireframe.raspberrypi.org

I give it 6 months.

Seriously, releasing a new print mag for games is insanity at the moment. Perhaps they want to capitalise on the high profile closures of GamesMaster and the like but still... This is a huge risk.

Best of luck to them, but I don't think theres much question that this is doomed to failure.

Must be a tax write off or something, surely? They can't be making any money out of this.

Good luck to them, anyone think £3 is quite a lot for fortnightly magazine though?

What is Wireframe magazine?

Wireframe is a new fortnightly magazine that lifts the lid on video games. In every issue, we'll be looking at how games are made, who makes them, and even guide you through the process of making your own.

This is from the Raspberry Pi Foundation too? So I imagine a big focus and the USP will be in hobbyist and starting out game dev

Private Eye is £2 for a 40 page mag printed on really cheap paper. £3 doesn't seem too bad.

I’ve noticed Future have officially started selling the US version of PC Gamer in the UK. You can purchase it through their website. It’s dramatically cheaper than our edition, and I think much of the content is also the same. If it’s anything like the US version of Official Xbox and PSM that I’ve read in the past however the paper quality is terrible. The equivalent of the Argos pamphlet you find in weekend newspapers.

I occasionally pick up Amateur Photographer and that's £3 weekly!

Obviously just me then! To be honest I only buy one monthly magazine (well magazine full stop) and that's £4.99 a month.

Interesting that the entirety of the first two magazines is available to download on that website for free in PDF form.

Looks like you can sign up to get it emailed to you as well for free so I assume this is something that's going to continue.

Ok, so this is interesting. They must either be 100% ad funded or using external funds, likely from the Raspberry Pi side of things. Hmm.

Anyway, subscribed.

I had the first issue sent to me for free. Looks nice. Rather thin. I haven't had a chance to read it yet though.

We seem to have upset one of the head honchos at the Raspberry Pi Foundation. :slol:

Edit: Goddamint Knoy foiled again :fp: it was actually Errkal who brought this to my attention.
