I’m not “being a baby” or “shitting the bed” but do you not see how some people can become bored or disillusioned being a human. The nature of the game means that those with roles are more involved, they have more to contribute and are more likely to become involved in behind scenes discussions. Yes humans can get involved in thread but generally they don’t get invited to “seer circles” for fear of being alpha. I have nearly always been without a role but I still sign up and I still play.

Also seer circles means there's no in thread discussion to really get involved in.

This thread from what I can tell must of mostly been done via PM, because not many people were really actively posting about the game other than questioning who we could/should vote for.

I can understand people being disillusioned with the human role, but I tend to agree with OB and others. Besides, I think distaste towards the human role is the impact of being omitted from special role circles that take discussion out of the thread. The solution to that I would say is either double down on PM circles (I did suggest something like this earlier in the thread but Nun rightly pointed out it adds more moving parts to a game that can already be difficult to track online), or to ban PM discussion entirely and insist players only talk, vote etc. in the open (certainly harks closer to the real world version of the game).

It sounds cliche to say that you have 'nothing to lose' when playing as a human. But I do think it's an important role because of this, whereas seers and other power roles tend to be a little wary of being too aggresive incase they get killed off prematurely, regular humans are able to go and interrogate people in thread and throw out accusations a lot more freely.

You don't need powers to have an impact in a game and the reason I brought up backtracking in the thread earlier is that once roles start flipping, you can look back in the thread on crucial votes and moments to see what people were saying, how people were voting and what narratives they were pushing. This is all (imo at least) good village play doesn't rely on having a role to do some of the detective work and potentially catch wolves.

Equally though I appreciate the frustration of never getting a power role because it is nice to mix it up from game to game.

fyi when mommy declared that he was a seer there was some speculation as to where or not he was just a mouth piece. On the assumption that there was only maybe 2 seers, we thought we could try and work around them and pick off the circle as best we could.

That is one of the reasons why Nun was picked so early. I think you were spotted PM'ing too (cant remember soz)

Got to say, thanks for quoting me in the early game, I was purposely being quiet, but was finding it difficult to just jump into the game after 2/3 days inactivity without a reason as I thought it would look hella suspect.

(we also had the 50/50 clue which I though was a reference to Me and Roonmaster being the only 2 inactives yet to be culled! spooky that these were pre planned clues :slol: )

also knew I couldnt just jump back into to the thread with nothing posts, so decided to bring my 'findings' to the public to spread a bit of confusion. Also kinda help cover my tracks as what sort of wolf would be that mental to layout the game plan in public!

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

I personally recommend the end of the second game which features a classic StayDead meltdown.

I'm not sure how affectionately people remember these. For me both were a struggle to run due to activity levels being low. I think maybe the balancing was off as people were very tentative about doing anything in either game. Perhaps it was not knowing how to deal with no outside communication as well and the struggle for both sides to pass messages in plain sight.

I could end up returning to it to see how a new game with a new cast unfolds. The scripting aspect of it is quite fun too

None of that was posted in hindsight, but in real-time in the deadposting thread.

Yeh but when you're not of the game it is easier to be dispassionate, there is a difference. You said yourself that you didn't think TAP was the Alpha, and he's the only wolf that got away.

I acknowledge that everyone is a great mafia player when they're dead and all which is sort of what you're saying here. But i'm struggling to think of an example this game where anyone except mcj went back in thread to check deceased player's posts on role flip at all.

Don't think this would have been useful for any wolf except PMM because the others barely posted but it is generally a useful strategy I think was slightly ignored.

As mentioned in the death thread, I tried to leave a couple of red herrings in my post history so that when people looked back they would end up potentially ruling out people I had vocalised suspicions about. This didn’t really seem to happen and out of 4 people I said I thought might be Wolves, 1 was a Wolf and another was the Alpha.

It wasn’t a conscious premeditated gameplan for the Wolves to be as inactive as we were, it just happened to be that we’re all fairly low players across the forum (compared to other players in the game). I don’t really have the time to post during the day as I’m active at work and my evenings are often busy too. I was a bit worried when the Humans were (rightly!) targeting inactives and thought we might be exposed when we were forever to cull most of the remaining inactives.

Big thanks to Dan for running the game. As I had said I wasn’t a fan of protection circles but I can understand it being a viable strategy with the deadline of the game. The Broken Seer ‘mechanic’ totally threw me too; having the Half Wolves in the game caused a lot of chaos which probably helped the last few days go quite smoothly from the Wolves’ point of view.

Am I also right in remembering that TAP was only saved earlier this week by RNG after a tie on a lynch vote, and that Cora didn’t vote.

Given how infrequently these games are played on the forum it's no wonder that some people have not had the chance to be a special role (myself included). I would understand the frustration if we were playing games more regularly, but when you're only involved in one game a year I don't really see the issue with being a villager as the game itself is still novel enough to keep things interesting.

I PMed Dan about that, I genuinely thought I'd voted for TAP to die but alas.

So TAP/Pancake is the alpha.

I think that is the 2nd time I've seered TAP and he has been alpha now. I only remember the time we were both seers :fp:
