So the new "Make America Nazi-Free Again" marketing has upset the Alt-Right

Collector's Edition has been reduced at GAME to £59.99:

https://www.game.co.uk/en/wolfenstein-i ... me-2023040

Includes an Action Man-esque 1/6-scale Terror-Billy action figure (with four guns and a hatchet), signature yellow-and-black jacket, bomber jacket; steelbook case; double-sided poster; retro 1960's style box; and The Freedom Chronicles: Episode Zero DLC.

Can't be selling too well, I guess. There does seem to be quite a lot there for your money though. Also £10 cheaper than the USA (not even including tax).

Reviews are starting to trickle out. First is a 9/10 from Polygon

B.J. is comfortable killing thousands upon thousands of his enemies if they stand between him and a bit of peace. But killing isn’t all that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus offers. It’s the rare first-person shooter that explores the first time its hero pulled a trigger; it’s the rare first-person shooter that is comfortable connecting with the primal, untamed parts of your brain while celebrating just how strawberry floating good it feels to lay out a Nazi.

https://www.polygon.com/2017/10/26/1655 ... sus-review

9/10 from PCGamesN too

All of that is extra icing that could not possibly bring down the quality. Which leaves me to say: If you want a good shooter, play Wolfenstein 2. If you want an incredible single-player story, play Wolfenstein 2. There will be a third Wolfenstein. Quite how MachineGames will ever top the second, I do not know

EDIT:

9.75 from Game Informer

When I finished my playthrough, I sat watching the credits roll with a huge grin on my face, quite convinced I hadn’t played a better first-person shooter in years. I’ll keep coming back for a long time thanks to bountiful epilogue missions, plus an alternate-timeline playthrough that grants access to another side character, scenes, and weapons. But these things are just gravy. On its own merits the campaign is unbeatable, packed to the gills with unforgettable story moments and fantastic combat sequences. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a bold game that rages and soars, deftly balancing pulp sci-fi with deadly seriousness, and one that should not be missed by anyone interested in the power of storytelling in video games.

I wonder if the writer has any self-awareness at all? But - I forget - this is Polygon we're talking about. It was a silly question.

I'm waiting for the only review that matters - that of the Daily Stormer.

PC version is on the high seas now :shifty:

Never got far on New Order on PS4 and got shut of my copy a while back. Was about to pirate the first game to run through it but it's only £3.99 on CDKeys so that will do.

Good to see those positive early reviews, hopefully it keeps up. Would love to see this do well for Machine Games.

Damn man do you pirate pretty much everything? Cmon son, the industry seems hell bent on Killing off quality SP games that aren't front loaded with microtransactions, maybe throw a few quid towards machinegames for this one before Wolf 3 gets turned into a f2p moba or something. If you did buy it apologies, but you're always posting about games being up for torrenting so it seems that way

Of course I bought it, wasn't going to pirate the first one when it was £4!

Image

By the time I even get round to finishing the first the new one should be cheap. Only reason I thought of just torrenting it was down to checking CDKeys the last couple of days and New Order had vanished from there including New Blood and still wasn't there as of yesterday. Magically appeared on their site when I started the torrent :toot:

Zero qualms about pirating. Can't say no to games when I download a gooseberry fool ton of TV shows and movies. That would just be plain bullshit hypocrisy. The whole 'oh your harming the industry' is the biggest pile of wankery ever, if I had no intention of ever paying then no loss in sale there really is there? I have pirated tons and bought tons when I've enjoyed a game take Breath Of The Wild. Enjoyed the 100+ hours I sunk in to it on Cemu which prompted me to buy it with a Switch and sink even more hours in to it. When you've played it on Cemu did you own it on either the Wii U or Switch?

I want to buy this, but the absolutely bone-headed decision to launch against Super Mario Odyssey means I can't really justify it. they really should have put it back a few weeks.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yeah, it's a shame it's being removed from sale before then.

1. Like getting on a train without a ticket and trying to argue you did nothing wrong because you weren't ever going to pay.
2. If piracy wasn't an option to you I bet there's a price higher than £0.00 that you'd pay to play it, which literally makes it a lost sale.

You're paying nothing only because it's the cheapest price available to you, not because you deem the product to have zero value.
