And you never post during working hours?

Haha less that I used to, but yeah I do. You don’t have to work non stop to be productive, as long as stuff that needs doing is done to the best of ability doing other stuff, browsing web etc. isn’t a bad thing, it’s usually good for me as it give time for whatever I’m doing to kind of background process so when I come back to it I do a better job.

I used to do it a lot as I hated the place I was working, I was making stuff that never got used and the directors were a nightmare (was a 9 person company) I’m not in a 3500 colleague company and vastly happier as there is more wellbeing and treatment of people etc. and I have more freedom to make the role what I want it to be.

It’s hard to argue that my posting at work actually helps me be productive it it does. However there a few people there that will work 9 to 5 and get shitty with people touching the internet yet don’t actually do anything. We are both the same distance from the outcomes of the company and have the same wellbeing programs, training options (they are paid considerably more) and so i can only assume they are lazy, which they are.

That’s sounds like a great way to excuse laziness. “Sorry I’m not motivated because I’m making stuff that never gets used.”

I hated the place, but I didn’t say I wasn’t motivated, stuff didn’t get used but that didn’t stop me producing new things that could be used as product if the directors weren’t dicks. Had I gone “well they don’t use it anyway so I’ll do nothing” then you would have a point.

Instead, I worked my arse off while there, and looked to leave for somewhere that would use the stuff I made and I would be happy, which is what I did, so despite the situation I was still working and producing because I had a job to do and that’s what I wasn’t paid for.

I have an awful work ethic which I think is because in school I realised I could get away with not trying too hard for most the year and then cramming a week or two before the exam.

So I find it really hard to motivate myself until a deadline is approaching.

My work ethic has changed a lot. I used to work for a big pub chain, I worked my way up from basically being Friday night bar staff to being the deputy manager of my pub and even being the temporary manager for ones where the manager had left or been sacked until they sorted out a new proper one. I used to work 70 hour weeks but this added together with issues that arose from PTSD brought on by a robbery and then a sprinkling of domestic abuse brought on a complete breakdown.

I was unable to work for a few years due to the breakdown and taking full custody of my daughter but out the other side of this my work ethic is, I only work part time, I do my hours and no more, no overtime, I focus on my family and my own mental health but when I'm in work if a boss is good to me I give them 100% , if they talk to me like dirt they get like 65%.... My wellbeing and family come first but treat me right and I'll work bloody hard while I'm there

I see nothing wrong with this approach at all. Finishing on time and getting home to my family is the most important part of my day, strawberry float anyone who questions why I'm leaving on time or not staying late/starting early. strawberry float that noise right in the ear.

No you were not reading correctly.

I called Errkal to task for what he said about “lazy workers” while he was posting during work hours.

I don't agree with that all. Some jobs and company cultures make it unavoidable.

You can post and be productive, the lazy thing is people that no matter how many times you ask someone to do something nothing happens until it's escalated or explodes, that are seemingly very busy to look at but never actually produce anything.

Posting here in the day isn't in itself a sign of anything as I pointed out.

I get lots done and when someone asks for something it gets done right away quite often and still i post on here.

Although this and last week doesn't count as I'm on holibobs.

So you are having a completely unproductive fortnight while expecting your company to pay you? :dread:

And the use of “holibobs” should be a sackable offence.
