England and England.

And also each other, as the finals were the same.

No idea who else though.

They dominated Croatia in the first half and should have been at least 2-0 up. They weren't amazing but I don't think we'd have seen anything like the Germany and Iceland performances had we played Spain, France, Argentina, etc.

Didn't we play France in a friendly not long ago?

Exactly, we remember the finals, but nobody really remembers all the teams they played on the way to the final.

We lost 3-2 last year.

Obviously it's totally different playing in the world cup final but that would suggest we would have at least given them a game.

I think we’d have been similar to Croatia, a brave show but ultimately not quite good enough. I don’t think England would have been horribly smashed.

I agree. When they turned it on - France were a cut above everyone else. When they had to they produced the goods. Time and again.
England narrowly lost to Croatia and for a little bit more experience and composure should have won. They can be very proud of how they did in this tournament.
Instead of denigrating England and trying to cheapen France’s achievement - it’s the usual suspects who should be getting criticism.
Germany, Italy, Holland, Spain Brazil, Argentina,Portugal.

Either didn’t qualify or were poor at the tournament. It’s not England or France’s fault that these teams didn’t qualify or turn up.
Brazil, Spain and Germany especially were abysmal. Given the players at their disposal.
The teams that did turn up did themselves proud. Russia and Japan especially. It’s been a great World Cup and the most open that I can remember.

I still maintain we would have been absolutely steamrolled if we'd made it to the final. Would have been bloody marvellous to be there, though, just as it was bloody marvellous to make it to the semis .

We allowed ex-employees and friends to enter ours, first and second place was taken by people that don’t even work here.

I think that is a moral victory for me, I am the best score predictor in the company.

Four members of the Russian punk activist group Pussy Riot have been jailed for 15 days for disrupting the World Cup final by running onto the pitch.

They were accused of violating the rules for spectators at sporting events and wearing police uniforms illegally.

They were also banned from attending sports events for three years.

Pussy Riot said it was a protest against human rights abuses in Russia. Stewards hauled the four off the pitch.

Assuming no “accidents” happen to them inside, that is a far more lenient sentence than I thought they’d get.

It’s an appropriate sentence which probably means Russia are lying because the world is watching.

Still got a long way to go on our sticker book. :dread:

There's no way I would have spent any money on it if it was just me doing it, but my son has really got into football and the world cup this year so the fact that he's getting a lot of fun out of completing the book means I've probably put a fair whack of cash into it now!
