Yeah, Rage 2 was a real quick "oh man, I regret buying this" game for me when it came out. It's got some good aspects but so much of it is just a bit too dull and uninspiring

The cafe book career mode a pointless addition and having tracks locked till you hit a certain level to race them just why and the payout roulette wheel is fixed no one ever gets above 5k, the replay value is weak compared to say 3 & 4

I didn't play it all that long but can I even time trial on all the tracks with a car I've bought or are they still locked?
Can you test drive cars?

locked until you get to the tracks in the cafe menu

I have not yet unlocked Trail Mountain what also doesn't help GT 7 is the cluttered menus and having to constant press x to get thru to the track and I don't care what Jose has to say or Pedro "my sincere congratulations on passing the test I knew you could do it" strawberry float off

It feels like the simple request to just try a car before you spend the credits you gone through the games hoops to afford is seen as sacrilege.
I think the idea of having somewhere we'll known like Nurbergring as a time trial location for any car from the start of the game would send them furious.

It feels like a game designed by tryhards for tryhards who think the idea of content being accessible to smelly people with kids or jobs is not what GT7 is supposed to be about.

You must grind your ass off if you want 2 decent cars!

I got a bit of time on gt7 last night, and it was so dull. Why do I have to back all the way out to the top level menu to then buy an upgrade I need? Just let me buy them from the track menu ffs. There was a wet race thst I could only see was wet because the track looked like it just before pressing go, but as I didn't have wets I then had to back all the way out to buy some.

I have not played anything terrible for a while, but after 1 hour of Lost in Random I was so bored and frustrated by the laggy controls I decided to never play it again. Maybe it would have got interesting, but the much vaunted dice combat system had not even made an appearance, and all the dialogue was naff.

Halo Infinite. Expected a return to form, got the worst Halo campaign yet.

How do we define 'recent'?

Over the last year, it'd be Stonefly. An eShop offering from the people behind pinball adventure Creature in the Well (which was good), this was a slow buggy mess of a game that deserves a full dollop of scorn.

Over the last five years, Dragon Quest XI. No really. A pretty façade over the dullest battle system and most tedious world it's been my misfortune to play. (Well actually it's Vroom in the Night Sky, but I bought that for a laugh knowing it'd be bad.)

And this console generation, it's 1-2-Switch, the pack-in that should have been. Cringeworthy videos, a handful of good offerings in a sea of shite, and £35 paid for the privilege.

So I was really disappointed with it. I’m not sure that makes it a terrible game and therefore count as a ‘worse recent game’.

I’m going to do it. I hated unpacking. Has no purpose as a computer game if you ask me.

Yeah it’s annoying how a lot of the game seems to happily waste your time for no reason, if they insist on you not being able to buy even tyres at the track at least give the weather conditions (or at least recommended tyre) before you even select to load the race.

I also hated (or at the very least strongly disliked) Unpacking. I think that was somewhat driven by the ridiculous amount of praise it got from the industry though.

Judgment

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game by any means, in fact some of it was pretty good fun (and Kamurocho is always a pleasure to spend time in).

My issue was the story, it went on far too long, and was just unbelieveably dull, particularly in the latter stages.

Does Hello Neighbor count? Because that game is a festering turd.

Have you played Halo 5?

It's also better than 4 imo, easily 343's best campaign.

I've been disappointed with Elden Ring....It's yet to click with me.

Yep. Halo 5 had problems sure, but it also had more variety in single missions than Infinite had over its entire length.

Halo Infinite is widely regarded as 343’s best campaign.

The grapple shot (awful name) is a game changer, boss battles, Bounty hunts and every fight with the banished was changed up, not all similar either (cloaked elites), vanished reinforcements shipped in, falling from the sky, rescuing marines, this is all without mentioning the massive interiors of its more linear parts….nah the variety is there and bar the biome being largely similar, the moment to moment fights are more dynamic than anything in Halo 4 or 5.

It's almost like MHTL doesn't feel the same way about it.

How many other games give you the experience of breaking into the tower of London as a cockney Grandma hacker?

The cargo drone does break the entire game. It shouldn't be in there.

Lots of mixed opinions. I know others liked it. I didn’t. But maybe I have my rose tinted glasses from halo 1-4 in my head. Never played 5.
