I don't do a job that I can work from home but being relocated to s different site that has cut my commute massively is fantastic. I hope that with all the systems set up to work from there properly I'll be able to go there more often.

There's a couple of my residents Id happily take home. The cheeky man who forgets who I am so everyday gives me the same look up and down and comments how fabulous I look and offers to take me to his room. The weathers original granny who is just sweet and lovely and no trouble at all but will hustle at dominos. The perfect gentleman who's pressure sore (if you don't know don't google it) burst all over my hand this morning and I swear I can still smell it but his charm is so forgiving. The sassy lassie who just potters about but sits like an absolute gangsta using her zimmer as a foot stool giving you death stares and firing finger guns as you walk by. Abd I could defo make room for the wifey who is bemused at this man with no haircut who is apparently running the country and stopping her from going to the bingo who would still me my skirt is too short if it had a 6ft train.

Dowbo, your poll has "I can't WFH due to my job" listed twice, so the results are skewed.

It's two polls, you're supposed to vote for it twice if it applies to you.

Sorry, should've given you all some advance warning before giving you a double poll first thing in the morning.

Not having to commute and therefore not having to get up early is great.

But I would still like some office interaction.

For me the best option would be that it is a possibility for whenever you need it

I don't require interaction but when I need to speak with someone about something it's often easier in person.

If I could I'd WFH on Mondays/Wednesdays and be Office based on Tuesday/Thursdays.

True but surely the second option is redundant?

I read it as the top options were the capability of doing your job at home and the second options were the desirability of doing/continuing to do that? If so then saying "I can't WFH" in the first batch kind of makes it pointless to say anything in the second?

Half our department is already full-time remote. I go into the office full time (although working from home now) because our rented house isn't big enough to have its own separate office space, and because I like the in person interaction. Ideally I'll own a house then work from home 2-3 days a week where I will be able to hang out with dogs and other animals.

I hate WFH, I like to have segregated spaces, when I leave the office I know I'm done for the day.

A few members of my team work from home once or twice a week, and I've always made it clear to my boss that I have zero interest of doing this (on Friday's a lot of the time it may just be me and him and maybe one other person in the office).

It may also be because I hate my current job and need the discipline to go into the office to do any work.

I've worked from home occasionally when needed but always wanted to make it a more regular thing (once a week/fortnight). It shouldn't be too difficult to get my boss to agree to that now having WFH full-time for several weeks.

I work in a contact centre and due to the sensitive nature of my work and the risk of being overheard I can't do the bulk of my work at home. There are other workloads I can do at home which I have been doing a little of lately and working from home is quite enjoyable, I just stick some music on and crack on with the work. However I don't think I'd like doing it full time as some of my only contact with other human beings is coming in to the office.

I already worked 3 days from home, and I much prefer doing the full 5. Saving more money on petrol, getting more sleep from no commute on those days, and I don't miss the personal interactions because we keep up with each other on whatsapp/Teams.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I already worked 2-3 days per week from home every week, and my entire job can be done from home. I don't think I'd want to work from home on a permanent basis though. 3, maybe 4 days per week max. I'd like to go into thenofficeb1 day per week just for some kind of human contact.

I can do around 80% of my role from home, and will definitely be trying to WFH more often after this is all over. I'm sure it saves the workplace a lot of money too.

I was talking to the gf about this too, maybe some companies will realise that people still get stuff done and might be happier, so will either offer it more or figure out they don't need to pay for an expensive office building.

I can see many companies doing this. Sure, some people like working from home, but really it shifts a lot of cost onto the employee in terms of space, kit (table and chairs), net connection, heating and lighting. It's okay for a short time as you'd feel like you're saving on travel but, after a while, I think people would think about the other costs involved.

I can’t stand WFH. I have had to sacrifice my entire kitchen table (previously used as a Pokemon TCG battleground with all the competitive relevant cards stacked on it, decks built etc) to fit in my work setup, which means there are 2x27 inch monitors, keyboard, mouse, laptop docked all struggling for space on a table which is too small. I don’t have the self discipline to be able to sit and focus by myself. I also hate that I can hear my upstairs and downstairs neighbours going about their day. I also miss being able to have that office rapport and work friends to get you through the day.

Overall this just isn’t how I’d go about things. My commute takes about 8 minutes each day so isn’t a huge win. I do like being able to be scruffy at the desk and not have to wear proper clothes or whatever, but that’s it.

I was talking to one of our estates people the other day. Apparently it costs our company over £40k per month to rent our office building.

Yes I think some businesses will be looking long and hard about whether they need so many offices.
