September 23rd. Demo out now on Xbox (not that you have one), thinks it's console launch exclusive too.

We've given Gang Beasts a try a few times but with the recent patches they seem to have somehow managed to completely ruin the game :slol: on PS4 it sometimes crashes when trying to load a match, and even then when you get into the match most of the maps (the aquarium is the worst offender) plays at about half the framerate so it's a nightmare to play :( It'd be decent if it worked.

Not everything was for me but you can’t help but be impressed at how much new content is dropping onto Gamepass. Who would have thought it was to become arguably a complete game changer?

I've not played it for over a year now, that sounds a bit rubbish! I never had any problems before but I guess they updated it without thoughts to the PS4 performance :(

Pleased to see Back 4 Blood going direct to game pass. Tempted to try it out because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead back in the day, but it's been a long time since I really enjoyed a proper online shooter, so would have been reluctant to pay full price for it.

I think the profitability or lack thereof for gamepass is an interesting topic but i'd say it's going to become more an issue for Sony.

Even if gamepass is running at a loss for now whilst MS build up the service and attract more subscribers, MS are a company that can afford to do that. At some point, the amount of content and value coming, Sony is going to need to respond but whilst they're certainly not short of a few quid, their pockets aren't anywhere close to as deep as MS's so I suspect the reason we haven't seen a full Playstation game pass offering is that they couldn't afford to compete with a comparable service.. they'd either need to offer a much more scaled back alternative or risk losing a fortune that the rest of Sony probably wouldn't permit them to do for too long. They have a larger user base which would help but how many would sign up day 1 and keep it.. and would they be able to keep up with MS on content.. on first party stuff then yeah maybe for now, possibly less so long term depending how MS's upcoming games pan out but third party wise, would they spend the money to compete.. plus MS have a huge head start on subscribers, sony would be building it from scratch.

Interesting times ahead I think.. personally I'm just chuffed at how much stuff i can play, a few years ago would be spending a fortune just to play a fraction of those games.

First few pages of the Game Pass thread make for interesting reading.

Thing is, I just don't know what sums you so to guage the profits of Gamepass. I wonder what that aforementioned analyst did to get the 50m subscribers figure.

You have the number of subscribers and the monthly GP figure, but people are paying less that that. But then, a lot have paid for one, two or three years. Then you have one person playing one game on GP and counting that as a lost sale, but games aren't always bought at full price and get bought second hand, and who's to say that that player would have bought the game anyway. Then you have the cost of the new consoles, does that get added in? I paid £121 for three years of Gamepass and haven't bought a game bar Hitman 3 on my console yet. But I did buy the console just for game pass. Then there's all the DLCs and microtransactions too. And don't devs pay MS to go on the service sometimes?

I just don't see how you can get anywhere near a clear figure.

You're right that there are a lot of variables, most of which have no public data, but I've always found it quite telling the Microsoft only talks about GamePass in terms of revenue (not profit) and number of subscribers. On the latter, I'd say that a lot of subscribers currently being counted did the £1 conversion but it's hard to say how many will remain subscribed afterwards.

I've barely used my subscription as I only use it for PC games and would rather buy games on Steam as I prefer it to the Microsoft Store. There's also the issue that games dissapear from Game Pass so I'd rather know that I can play a game when I want to. I was interested in trying Hades but it looks like it's only on Xbox Game Pass so it'll be even longer before I use my Game Pass subscription.

Skipping through this so I can watch parts of it in 4K (Stalker 2 looks unreal if that’s actually gameplay), slightly disappointed that Back 4 Blood isn’t supporting local co-op :( Left 4 Dead 2 was probably one of the best co-op experiences I’ve had outside of Nintendo games (mainly Mario Kart).

I’ve only found out through googling it, I’ll definitely still be playing it but local co-op was what made Left 4 Dead so much fun to play. Just dropping friends in it around a Witch and then legging it

As someone who is neither a shareholder nor an employee of Microsoft or any of its competitors, I couldn’t give an effing eff about the profitability of Game Pass.
