Is it? I think most people given the choice want to see games first and foremost before a price is given or more details about services like X Cloud and Game Pass. Just an hour of games (and a bit of talk from the developers I assume) to enjoy and thats what he is saying we’ll get from this event next week.

Snow Bike Mike, Alanah Pearce, and Gary Whitta join together for the very first episode of the Kinda Funny Xcast where they predict and dream about what will be shown at the Xbox Games Showcase.

OK, I'm sure I saw a tweet that Phil Spenser said the X sweries won't have exlusive games for years. What's that about?

Like what are they showing if that is the case?

Anyway, here's an article https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-boss-phil-spencer-confirms-firstparty-exclusi/1100-6479847/

I'm too lazy to read it, is it not what the title suggests?

It's more that first party games will also be coming out on the Xbox One as well as series X kinds like when Forza Horizon 2 and Titanfall came out on the 360.

Im just hoping for Fable 4

It depends on the game though, some games are already Xbox Series X (and I guess when the other model gets announced, they’ll be confirmed for that too) such as The Medium, I’d be amazed if Forza Motorsport 8 is cross gen as well as both Microsoft and Sony seem to enjoy having the racing games being a bit of a graphical showcase for the new hardware.

I'm guessing -

Cross-gen - Halo Infinite, Everwild, Outer Worlds DLC (In pre-show Grounded/Psychonauts 2/Gears Tactics/Tell Me Why/Battletoads/Minecraft Dungeons)
Next Gen only - Fable, Hellblade 2, The Medium, The Initiative Game, Global Publishing Games. Outside chance of Compulsions new game.
Could go either way - Forza 8, Obsidians AAA RPG, Flight Simulator

Here's what Phil has said so far -

We want every Xbox player to play all the new games from Xbox Game Studios. That’s why Xbox Game Studios titles we release in the next couple of years—like Halo Infinite—will be available and play great on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. We won’t force you to upgrade to Xbox Series X at launch to play Xbox exclusives.

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/07/16/ ... of-gaming/

The thing you'll see on the 23rd is we're giving our studios real creative freedom to build the games that they envision.

As you know we've added a lot of studios to the to the Xbox Game Studios organization over the last few years and providing them the financial stability, the creative freedom to go build the games that they want to go build, and our game creators want to build great games that can reach a large audience of players.

So I think what you hear Matt [Booty] talking about and what our creators will say is we have a vision for every game that we're building and the vision starts with the player, not the device. If a creator comes to us and says 'No, I really want to focus on next generation' with their games, we're completely open to that and we're very supportive of that.

If a creator comes to us and says I have this vision for reaching these customers across different platforms and different generations we're completely supportive of that.

It is really about our creators having choice and allowing them to build the games that they want to build to reach the audience that they're looking for and not things that we're mandating to our creators in terms of what they have to go do.

It's not our rules for our platform it's more about creators creating the games that they want to go build looking ahead.

I do feel - from those two answers - they are releasing the xCloud app to the One some time 2021 along with on PC. That would still allow players to get the latest games that don't go cross-gen without having to upgrade, after all.

There's a real depressing lack of discussion about cake in this topic :( .

What cakes are people eating during the show?
I'm most likely going to get a nice tiramisu and possibly some carrot cake to go with it.
A few pints of coffee as well.

Well McLaren tweeted out their famous (well, famous in the F1 paddock) brownie recipe so I’ll be getting the items needed to make those after work on Monday and make them on Tuesday, apparently makes 28 portions so should have a couple leftover for Thursday afternoon :) Not sure if chocolate brownie counts as a cake mind.....

Failing that, I’ll pick up a ready made red velvet cake

It'd be great if there was some real unexpected surprise like the return of Perfect Dark or Project Gotham Racing. It's a crime that the best racing game series of the '00s is currently dead and buried.

Crud. Time to order in a triple-layered chocolate fudge cake, then.
