Xbox Live 6 month deal - code not working? *solved*

So I decided to take advantage of the current deal of 6 months XBL at half price and much to my dismay when I redeem the code I receive the following message:

"Sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred. Please try to redeem your code later"

Microsoft's site is next to useless and their office is now closed.

As you might imagine I'm not best pleased.

Anyone else run into this problem and might have a solution?*


*I'm guessing I'll have to wait until the MS offices are open again.
