Rog, what has that got to do with Xbox 360 compatibiity? This is an interesting new feature for Xbox 360 / XBO owners. Why bring PC (or Mac / Linux) into it?

Well the next-gen consoles should also be x86, so Id expect BC.

It's my personal opinion on the news. Comparisons with other services is going to happen. Like it already did in the thread with PS2 for instance. Lots of Sony mentions and yet your problem is with me, OK.

Admittedly I was always going to buy an Xbox One at some point but this will mean I probably buy one sooner rather than later. The one niggling doubt I have is that they are going to update it piece by piece. They did that on the 360 with original Xbox games and we saw how that turned out.

This talk that you have to download a game even if you have the disc makes me think that they have created some way to recompile 360 games and create a native Xboxone game kinda like the way they showed porting iOS apps to Windows 10 at build. I'm assuming that's why the original developer needs to approve bringing the game to Xboxone. What this means for titles from companies that went bust is unclear.

Yeah there could be some real issues with games from defunct publishers or with games that were removed because of licensing issues (eg. Marvel vs Capcom 3, Outrun 2 etc.) It's tempered my excitement a bit but we'll see how it all plays out. The good news is that it does seem to be native and potentially works with every single game.

This (along with Fallout 4 mods) was the highlight of the MS show for me. I really hope they can get it to work, and it doesn't end up being a half-arsed effort like it was on 360.

I'm just glad I'll be able to play Lost Odyssey again.

You might not be interested in the new Rainbow Six game, but it might become a model for other games.

In case you missed it, if you buy the game on Xbox One you get the 360 versions of Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2 for free.

Fantastic feature and it is tempting as there are a few xbox 360 games I missed out on, however with limited spare time I had best stay away from adding another console to my roster! Really nice they have done this though.

It's Xbox Originals all over again. Really should have been announced in 2013, now it's probably going to be a bit of a damp squib since I doubt Microsoft is going to get many publishers to bother rubber-stamping their approval. Especially if they're planning remasters (note last of Halo 3, for example)

Meh not a major feature for me now to be honest with the Halo collection already out. It means the missus can still play Skyrim though when I eventually upgrade.

I would definitely prefer to have Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark and Jet Force Gemini on Steam but it looks like this is the best thing that I'll have that isn't an emulator. Hopefully it gets some renewed interest in Perfect Dark online.

I can't see communities being revived off the back of this. With all these games at once and a current catalogue to be played everyone will be spread thin.

And yet they are doing a Gears of War HD remaster so I doubt it.

Nice to see plenty of XBLA games in that initial list for preview members
