Well all three games turned up today but looks like MS haven't released them yet as it just says its "not playable here" when pop the disk in. Hopefully they'll pull the trigger and get them up soon.

I can confirm that FF13 looks lush on X1X. That all said, I didn't realise that I'm at the last boss battle of this and can't remember the battle system. I think I'm gonna start a new game tonight.

That's an incredible difference. I'm amazed by how good the original Assassin's Creed looks on the Xbox One X in 4K - it could pass for a current-gen game.

Just been reminded of X-Men Legends 1 and 2. Hopefully they will get a backward compatibility release. Also X-Men origins Wolverine and Transformers War for Cybertron games.

Wish my image sig would work

I suspect licensing issues may prevent these. The latest Cybertron game got remastered but I think has now been removed from the store. I think the same happened with the Ultimate Alliance games so I doubt older x-men games will make it over sadly.

Licensing doesn't seem to usually affect making things BC, it just means they won't be available on the store so they aren't as much of a priority.

Not sure, I thought that's why we've not had Project Gotham etc.. Does seem silly though as you'd think they could make any game bc for people that own disk but not actually put them up for sale as you said.

Guess with stuff like xmen and transformers it'd depend on whether Activision want them on bc, suppose there's not much incentive if they won't get extra sales from it. Something MS published like PGR seems a bit of an odd omission though.

Have MS given any indication that they plan on bringing all the current BC stuff they have done forward to the next system?

I am still flip flopping on the idea of getting an XBX purely for the BC features and upgraded picture quality on 4K but if the new system has these features and is only a couple years away.....think I should hold out

Given how well BC has been received I would be absolutely amazed if the next console didnt fully support everything already available.

Phil Spencer when asked about BC on next gen:
Spencer did tell me that backwards compatibility remains an important selling point for Xbox, so expect that to be a feature of the next Xbox consoles.

"What I would say specifically, without announcing anything, is I'm very proud of our track record of compatibility and us respecting the purchase of games you've made with us and bringing that to the current generation," Spencer said. "It is in our core on who we are.

"As you think about this next wave of hardware that eventually will come, so many of the large, large games people are playing today are still going to exist when the next hardware comes out. You're not likely to see a '2' after all those, as people are trying to move you to the next version of those games. In the old model of games shipping, getting played and then going away - and that was all of the games - a console transition was an easy step-function.

"We went through it with Minecraft. We didn't ship Minecraft 2 on Xbox One to try to compel everybody to move to the next console, because that's not what Minecraft players want. They just want Minecraft to get better. When you look at games like PUBG and Fortnite and you think about these large games and ecosystems that'll be out there, when new hardware comes, people are still going to want to play those games, and it's going to be important for us as platforms to support them."

That’s good to know, the work they have done is really impressive especially the X enhanced stuff.

I can also see next gen upgrades of Xbox One/PS4 games being easy to make and hopefully at worst cost a few quid.
I think GamePass games will get free upgrades which will make showing the power difference of the machines extremely easy. I'll certainly be interesting in trying games like Forza Horizon 4 or the next Halo on next gen and seeing what nice little extra's the next gen brings.
