I tried the cloud streaming of Fortnite the other evening. Bear in mind I have a 500mb connection and this was at midnight but I found the performance on a Pixel 6 to be brilliant. The game caps the frame rate at your device max so I was getting 90fps based on a 90hz screen and the graphics were a lot better than the normal mobile version. I also had close to zero ping as well.

I’d recommend using a controller as whilst the touch controls are ok normally, the game only runs at 16:9 so you get borders on a 21:9 phone. Next up I’ll try it on an iPad Pro with a controller to see if I get 120fps.

As an added bonus my account thought I was playing on Series X hardware and unlocked the black variant for Master Chief which was a nice surprise.

Been watching that Power On Xbox Docuseries on YouTube and it’s got me back to loading up the old 360 once again! I loved this console during that gen, it felt like such a perfect system with tons of great games along with great features and it’s the only console I ever got into online gaming with.

Just got a 360 Kinect bundle with 6 games and the camera for £14 online  should be fun reliving those games again with my niece.

Fruit Ninja Kinect. Seriously, it's great.

Trek to Yomi.

Just finished Chapter One. It looks nice, but the texts/subtitles are so, so tiny! The combat is a bit janky and I'm sure I'll be getting better as I go along with it.

Actually never tried that, I’ll see if I can get a cheap copy. Might grab The Gunslinger as well if I see it cheap

Has anyone here been impacted by the Xbox server issues over the weekend? Eurogamer is reporting that Microsoft is investigating and aims to resolve the issue "in the coming days". Eurogamer's report suggests that DRM (Digital Rights Management) is stopping some gamers from playing their games in offline mode.

I’ve not found any issues yet, I’ve not played a game on my Xbox in a few days though :shifty:

I've been playing Citizen Sleeper & Halo Infinite once or twice a day over the last few days with no problems. Seems to be very hit & miss.

Mines been fine. I seem to remember there was an option you can check in the settings which meant that the online check was no longer required (at least for set period of time)? It was like a "make this my home console" option. I'm sure the prompt came up a while back when I was having internet issues specifying it would resolve this exact thing, and after enabling it I have never seen the problem happen again.

I've had no issues at all, so I've been very lucky.

https://www.techradar.com/uk/how-to/how ... -home-xbox

These are the steps I remember following. I'm sure it makes all content on the machine available even without internet access.

Thanks for that KF, I'll take a look. Wary that there's a limited number of times you can swap consoles and as mine is the 2nd one in the house, I wouldn't want to screw up the account on my sons' as they'd go apoplectic if they couldn't get onto Roblox! Hopefully things will be back to normal soon but after no access since Friday I'll be looking for some kind of gesture from Microsoft.

The patent describes a system that allows an external disc drive to authenticate an Xbox game and allow the player access to the digital version of that game through the Xbox Series S Games Store.

It is unknown whether the patent would allow players to redeem a digital version of the game to add permanently to their digital library, or whether the patent would simply be the basis for an external disc drive Xbox Series S players could purchase if they wanted to play backwards compatible Xbox One games. It would seem unlikely that players would be allowed to duplicate their copy of a game if there were any chance the disc could then be sold and duplicated again, though perhaps the patent could identify whether the disc had been validated before like with the codes for redeeming digital games through the Xbox Games Store.

The patent description also seems to suggest that an Xbox One could be linked with the Xbox Series S and used as the external disk drive for authenticating the game, but whether they could be linked wirelessly or would require a connection is unclear.

That's got to be a pretty amazing department to work in, helping as many people as possible play games.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best replacement wireless XBox controllers? The one I got with my Series X and the other one I bought around the same time have both developed seriously bad drifting. I've dismantled and sprayed with contact cleaner multiple times and it kind of fixes the problem but only for a short period. I'm not keen on replacing them with a Microsoft one given the issues I've got, both are less than 2 years old but the warranties on controllers are pretty short. They feel pretty robust but obviously the internal build quality is a bit shite.

If you've opened them up to clean them then you've probably had to break the warranty sticker and voided it.

You could replace the joystick switches which is easy enough to do and will only cost a couple of quid on ebay

That would be perfect if I wasn't absolutely god awful at soldering (to the point where I wrecked an Atari ST back in the day by completely strawberry floating up the soldering of a memory upgrade).
