No and that's the point. The MS Store are the worst leakers in the industry.

Xbox is Building the Gaming Platform for the Next 20 Years

This Sunday, at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we’ll be giving our fans a closer look at an amazing line-up of games coming to Xbox, PC, and cloud. As we prepare to pull back the curtain on the games to come, we also wanted to share some updates on how you’ll be able to play them. We think of it as a progress update on our mission: to bring the joy and community of gaming to the 3 billion gamers on the planet.

With Xbox’s 20th anniversary recently behind us, it’s also important to let you know what to expect from Team Xbox, including our devices and services, as we build a platform for the next 20 years of gaming. Today, we’d like to share what we’re doing next to continue making Xbox the best value in gaming for players to enjoy the best games, across genres and across console, PC, and cloud, including new Xbox Game Studios titles with Xbox Game Pass the same day they launch.

We are:

Bringing the Xbox app to Samsung 2022 Smart TVs
Expanding Xbox Cloud Gaming to more countries
Bringing new gaming experiences to Microsoft Edge and Windows 11
Rolling out updates for Xbox Game Pass members
Introducing more options to express yourself with Xbox Design Lab

As Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer sees it, “We’re building a platform that can reach billions of players—whether it’s on console, whether it’s on PC, whether it’s through Xbox cloud streaming – where players on any device they want to play on should be able to find the content they want to play.”

Bringing the Xbox app to Samsung 2022 Smart TVs

Today, we announced we’re partnering with Samsung to bring the Xbox App to 2022 Smart TVs so that you can play hundreds of cloud-enabled games, without a console.

That means hundreds of games in our Game Pass Ultimate library, and Fortnite without a subscription.

Playing Xbox games on Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs will be a seamless experience – it will be similar to using any other streaming app on your TV.

It’s simple, starting on June 30, access the Xbox app from the Samsung Gaming Hub or Media Hub and log into your existing Microsoft account, connect your favorite Bluetooth controller.

If you’re a Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have access to play loads of great cloud-enabled games, or you can jump into Fortnite without a subscription.

Microsoft is Bringing New Gaming Experiences to Microsoft Edge and Windows 11

We’re continuing to collaborate across Microsoft to provide great gaming experiences. That work continues with new updates coming to Windows 11 to deliver an even better gaming experience:

Optimizations for windowed games are currently being tested in the Windows Insider program. These are designed to significantly improve latency and unlock other exciting gaming features, including Auto HDR and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

A new HDR calibration app will enable players to improve color accuracy and consistency of their HDR displays.

The Game Pass Widget will allow players to browse and discover games from Game Pass and jump back into their recently played titles.

Controller bar features a list of most recent games, and shortcuts to popular game launchers, including the Xbox app. Controller bar enables players to jump back into their games or even access Xbox Cloud Gaming without the need for a mouse and keyboard. This is also currently being tested in the Windows Insider program.

We’re also excited to share how Microsoft Edge is evolving to meet gamers’ needs and help bring gaming to everyone, everywhere. Exclusive new gaming features are coming soon to the desktop version of Microsoft Edge, including some Xbox Cloud Gaming integrations:

A new personalized gaming home page featuring news, game guides, live streams, game highlights, tournaments, upcoming and newly released games, and the Xbox Cloud Gaming library, including easy access to recently played games and related content.

Built-in Clarity Boost makes gameplay from the cloud look sharper and clearer when playing in the Microsoft Edge browser on Windows.

The new Games menu in Microsoft Edge offers easy access to free, popular games like Microsoft Solitaire, Atari Asteroids, Microsoft Jewel, and Microsoft Edge’s exclusive Surf game, plus helps players discover new ones.

Efficiency mode helps improve gaming performance on Windows 10 and 11 to keep them running fast and smooth by automatically reducing browser resource usage when a PC game is launched.

Get More Out of Your Xbox Game Pass Membership

We’re excited to share that later this year, it’s our intent to roll out the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play, from the cloud, select games they already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game Pass library.

We’re also revealing the first details of Project Moorcroft, a program that brings the fun and discovery of playing new, curated demos of upcoming games to our Xbox Game Pass members.

The program will begin rolling out within the next year
, beginning with a focus on providing independent developers from around the world more opportunities to build excitement for their games.
Participating developers will be able to see how their demos perform, and be compensated, enabling them to bring their creativity to Xbox and reach new audiences with Game Pass.

The Xbox game streaming TV app feels almost like the real thing

It’s coming first to Samsung’s 2022 TV lineup on June 30th

Playing games on the new Xbox app made for TVs feels like a big deal. There’s no console and no hidden HDMI streaming device. Yet, in my brief hands-on demo, games like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 loaded quickly and — most importantly — they played well with both Xbox and PlayStation 5 wireless controllers. And if you aren’t a Game Pass subscriber, you’ll still be able to jump into Fortnite immediately through the app for free after you sign in with a Microsoft account.

The app aims to provide a console-like experience to people who don’t want the cost and cruft of buying and setting up a console. It lets you pair a Bluetooth headset to hear audio and chat with Xbox friends, and Xbox save data gets synced over the cloud, letting you pick up on the TV where you last left off.

You’ll be able to experience it starting June 30th — that is, if you own a model from one of Samsung’s fleet of 2022 televisions (including the M8 Smart Monitor and non-flagship Smart TVs above model BU8000). The Xbox app is launching first within Samsung’s Gaming Hub, a new section of Samsung’s TV operating system that gives games the center stage alongside media streaming apps.

Microsoft is aiming to deliver native 1080p streaming at 60 frames per second, and Samsung is using upscaling to make the footage look better. Wiring ethernet into your TV is, of course, highly recommended to get the best possible fidelity, but during my demo, the TV that I was playing on was connected to hotel Wi-Fi and doing a pretty good job. If you play wirelessly, Microsoft recommends connecting to a 5GHz router, which most routers are capable of broadcasting.

Compared to my experience using xCloud on my Android phone or browser, the interface seemed to glide around a little more smoothly, and — minor instances of hitching and some noticeable compression aside — it was a perfectly serviceable, yet inherently imperfect experience. It’s never going to be a one-to-one parallel to experiencing the latest games directly from a console that can render native 4K (or close to it), but in the absence of a console, I’d be smitten to use this TV app instead of loading games up on a tablet or phone.

Halo looks, sounds, and plays like Halo. I was able to line up headshots with just enough accuracy. In Forza Horizon 5, I nailed most of the wild turns I took while speeding down the road. What I’m getting at is that this app feels like it should be good enough to serve as the sole avenue for gaming for a lot of people.

The execution is simple and straightforward, but it still feels magical that gaming has arrived at this moment. Microsoft has been gunning to dominate your entertainment center with consoles for 20 years, and for those who want it (and, for now, also own a 2022 Samsung TV), the best of Xbox will soon be available through a TV app.

Small but significant announcement of GP moving away from the hardware space. The TV 'puck' will be incoming also.

In a statement to press, Microsoft described its intent to "meet or exceed" the number of games it launched in its FY2022, which included Age of Empires IV, Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5.

"Last fiscal we launched 5 new games across console, PC, and cloud. We are on track to meet or exceed that amount in the next fiscal."

https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/x ... -next-year

FY22 begins next month so maybe Forza, Starfield, Redfall, Avowed. Maybe Project Belfry & Pentiment or even Grounded will count. Wolfenstein 3? Gears collection?

Seems kind of low.

I'm sure Grounded's full release will count as one. Starfield looks like it's definitely coming early 2023, and Redfall is currently in this window per their latest statement on it. As Dusk Falls got rated by the ESRB so you'd think that would be soon, and people seemed confident the Gears Collection is a thing. I've also seen people say the MS quote didn't mention exclusives at all, and Windows Central just added that in. That means they will probably include Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo as 'new Xbox games'.

I'm not really expecting Avowed, but I'll be so disappointed if Forza Motorsport is still over a year away.

Weren't demos mandatory for all XBOX live arcade games back on 360?

That said, with Gamepass demos for existing games would be a bit pointless but demos of upcoming games would be cool.

Seems to be aimed at the indie community rather than the bigger dev's, and only if they want to.

I really wish they'd release an Android TV game pass app.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Yeah, that'd be a good move. I'm assuming that Samsung must have paid to be an exclusive option at first, but presumably the tech could work on Android/Google TVs with relatively minor modifications.

I'd assume they've got it running on most of the TV platforms already. I guess launching with a brand rather than an OS makes sense, as Samsung will put some advertising clout behind it, and Xbox and Samsung already have a history of collaboration (remember the 360 launch, where Samsung HD was everywhere?!).

Personally I was a little disappointed that LG isn't included yet, but I quickly realised it would just be a curio for me. Why do I need my TV to run Game Pass, when there's already a Series X lashed to it?

It's more recent than that, Samsung was using Xbox Gamepass in there mobile phone adverts last year....

Does Samsung run a variant of Android already? I seem to remember seeing so but that could be a false memory.

I just want to be able to stream on my Nvidia shield! Right now I can make it work by running the games on my PC and streaming it from there but it'd be nice to cut out the middleman.
