They must think Gold customers really love them some rallying (and maybe they do!).

3 did 2, but worse and 4 is also better than 3. Can't have the best saints trow when they either strawberry float the characters from 2 so they may as well be different people or remove one of the best completely

I'll be honest, I don't really have a dog in this fight. I thought 3 was pretty good though.

I don't think they'll put 3 on as it's had a remaster so the owners will be wanting to make more on it.

I love Saints Row 2. It was far better than the contemporary GTA game.

Hotshot racing has a substantial demo on Xbox insider app. It’s incredible, think Outrun x Daytona x Virtua Racing. It’s going for the old Sega vibe and it’s nailed it.

I’m playing this now. Well, I say “playing”, but there’s not really any game in there. I’d have thought there would be at least some interaction during the conversations - selecting replies etc.

It’s OK though. Just a bit too passive.

EDIT: I’m kind of wishing I’d selected an incongruously offensive name for my character now.

That's a great PSA for those of us still to play it.

Summer Game Fest Demo Event Coming July 21 to an Xbox One Near You

If you’ve been lucky enough to attend E3, PAX, gamescom or another show in the past you know that above-and-beyond the spectacle of these shows, one of the great joys of attending a marquee gaming event is being able to get your hands on games – lots of games. Getting to try them out early and discover lots of news games is awesome.

While we can’t recreate the experience of attending a big show entirely, we can help you get your hands on lots of cool new games early. As announced by Geoff Keighley as part of Summer Games Fest, Xbox is proud to reveal that our Summer Games Fest Demo Event will be live on Xbox One from July 21 to July 27.

We’ll have more than 60 brand-new game demos for upcoming, unreleased Xbox games available to check out for free!
Look for the special Game Fest Demo tile on the Xbox One Dashboard that week to find the collection of available demos.

A few things to keep in mind:

These are not normal “game demos.”
Typically, the demos you see in our Demo channel are created after the game is completed (or nearly completed) and represent the final version. Many of these demos are early, and some are for games that won’t be out for quite some time. We’ve never done this before; what that means is that you’ll get to experience these games early – some way early – which is awesome, but you should also note that these games will continue to evolve and be polished as they near release. In other words, think of these as akin to “show floor demos” and not necessarily indicative of the final product. And speaking as somebody who has worked in the industry for a while – that’s not a bad thing! In fact, being able to check out games early and then see how they evolve is freakin’ awesome!

These demos will only be up on the Xbox Dashboard for a week. Some might be re-published to the Demo channel later, but many will simply evaporate at the end of the week, so make sure to check them out while you can.

The developers would love to hear what you think. Hit them up on social media or through their websites. If you like the game – tell them! If you have constructive criticism, they would love to hear that too.

As I mentioned, we’ll have a lot of games – somewhere between 75 and 100 when the dust settles. We’ll announce the full list closer to July 21 but here are some highlights:

Games
Cris Tales
Destroy All Humans
Haven
Hellpoint
Skatebird
The Vale: Shadow of the Crown
Raji: An Acient Epic
Welcome to Elk

Ooh, that's an interesting idea. If such is a success and few problems arise from such, I'd be glad to get on board every year. Wonder what other games will be available? Maybe those that get announced at the Xbox event?

My Xbox One X got stuck on the green boot up screen today. Required 3 attempts of forcing the machine off to get it to work. Bodes well.

I'm very late to the Xbox One party so I'm looking for some recommendations for some online multiplayer games please.

I've only really dipped my toes in with the Master Chief Collection and Halo 5. They are both okay, but both have a couple of faults due to the age of the games. In MCC I really need to cast the net wide to find a game in a decent amount of time, and nine times out of ten I will be put in some gimmicky match. Halo 5 is similar - I can't get any matches for my preferred mode (big battle) and always end up put in really 'twitchy' small maps.

For FPSs I'm looking for something as close to Unreal Tournament/Quake 3/Bungie Halo as possible i.e. everyone starts on equal footing and relies on weapons that spawn on the map. No pay to win nonsense that can give people an edge. I think that's getting harder and harder to find though. What are the CoD games like these days? The last I played was Modern Warfare 2 and that was okay from what I remember. My preference is for a game without pre-selected loadouts but I can make my peace with that if needed.

I'm open to most genres though, so if you have any recommendations for games that are still active then let me know.

Apologies if I've missed a specific Xbox Live thread.

I played a ton of BTB on Halo MCC and 5, (admittedly last time was about a month ago) but never had trouble finding a match. Do you use the match making thing? you choose type of game and amount of players on each team (in MCC) meaning you'll never play on a small map or in a 4v4 if you don't want to. I do play in the evenings so maybe that's the problem...

I did play about with the matchmaking options, yeah.

In MCC I had all of the games & types selected and played around with the team size options. For 4v4 I would get relatively quick match-ups, but as I mentioned most of the time it would be the more 'gimmicky' game types i.e. random weapons, SWAT, shotty snipers etc.

In Halo 5 I also played around with the matchmaking options such as balanced, extended (and the third option that I can't remember) but I didn't get a single Big Team Battle hit even when I left it searching until it gave up itself. I had no issues with getting 4v4s in Halo 5, but I really miss the big maps - especially since the smaller maps don't give you much chance to get used to the new weapons.

I was also using social rather than ranked assuming it would give me a better shot of finding people. Maybe the 4th of July weekend in America meant it was quieter this particular weekend, but I would have thought the opposite would be the case.

I don't like slayer so I pick, Reach, 2, 2A, 3 and 4 and deselect all bar King of the Hill, CTF and Bomb. 8v8 so no shotty snipers or any of the malarky. I think Halo 4 mp in the MCC is vastly superior to it's original 360 incarnation as that was plagued with slow down and inconsistent frame rates. Seeing it run at 60fps locked and 4K totally changes it.

I CANNOT get used to the original Sniper Rifle in Halo 2mp. in Anniversary it's fine but there's a big delay in vanilla H2 mp.

Anniversary does look lush tho:

Is that Blood Gulch (Coagulation?)? Bloody hell - I've not seen that map in years. Looks amazing

For some reason all but two of the games I got yesterday in MCC were Reach. The other two were Halo 3. The only thing I don't like about MCC is that it's a bit weird going between the different games one after another given how different the weapons can feel. Nature of the beast though if you want quicker matchmaking I suppose. All Team Slayer games too which was also odd.

I wasn't quite as bad as I thought I would be in Halo 5 yesterday. I was holding my own in the smaller maps with the magnum and BR, but as soon as the sniper rifles & SWAT games came out I was quickly outclassed due to my unfamiliarity with the maps. Moreso with Reach, but given people have been playing that game for ~10 years I'm not surprised.
