Do you have 'instant on' mode set up on your Xbox One or are you turning it fully off?

Some games are a bit prone to glitching out when doing the automatic resume, but they're usually the online multiplayer type titles. Not sure why D4 should cause a problem.

Instant on is...on. Will try a different game and see if the same issue occurs there. Bit of a shame as I love the resume feature on my PS4 and it has never gone wrong for me in 3 years. Have also done a full power cycle.

Just down to Xbones OS being unbelievably wank. Its shockingly gooseberry fool. I've never really been able to have instant on....on because it would cause constant disconnections with the controller, having that option off fixes it. gooseberry fool as it's happened on both my OG Bone and with my current X.

Same for downloading in sleep mode. Whenever I have tried instant on and turn the console off my Xbox doesn’t continue downloading

Well downloading while in standby definitely works, when I had my hard drive fail I often left tens of games downloading while I went to bed, and when I woke up they would all be installed.

Weird, the best I got it to do was (I think) complete the current thing it was downloading when I switched it off and then it left the remainder of my queue.

There is also no way to tell if an Xbox is on/sleeping/off. The PS4 has the handy glowing light that changes colour depending on what it's doing so you know it's downloading while off.

Hmm, thats disappointing. I have it set up so that the controller instantly logs me on. I always get the Hi message on reboot, but its almost like in logging me in, it has logged me out first, and that has screwed up the suspended game state. No other users are registered to the console. Im using Ethernet connection and downloads continue fine when in standby. Just not the suspend resume function.

Really disappointing, as i'm loving the rest of the Xbox experience. Even bought a nice fancy oled tv yesterday to make the most of it.

There definitely are some people who are using suspend mode reliably though right?

'Instant on' on OG Xbox was great of me, as everything updated automatically but with the 1X1, I have to kick them all off, now once they are kicked off, if I switch off my Xbox it will download them while it's 'off' in 'instant on' but it's weird that it won't do it, itself, even though I have it set to download updates automatically.

The game state thing works again in 'instant on' mode. Played TR yest, switched it off, watched football and afterwards when I went back into game it was exactly where I left it.

Yeah it definitely works for me the majority of the time. You get the odd game where it comes up 'lost connection' or whatever but that's usually online stuff.

Weird how people have such variable experiences on Xbox.

I do think, when you leave it as instant on, you should do a cache reset every few days (power off - unplug for 10 seconds) so the UI stays fast, as it can get muddled especially if you're me who changes games hourly.

Thats the exact game i was playing yesterday, without suspend / resume success.

Does your dashboard always say "Hi <yourname>" when you resume from suspend? Mine does, and i'm not sure if that's normal, or if it thinks i have logged out and logged back in?

It always says "Hi Karl" when I switch it on, so it's logging you on, but that doesn't alter the game resuming as it logs you on before you can launch game again and as you have same profile as the game when it was suspended it just picks up where you were. Everytime you switch on your Xbox it will say Hi, that's normal.

Thanks for the clarification. Thats exactly what i thought, but wasn't sure.

Seems like SOtTR is one that causes a lot of people suspend / resume issues, so maybe i have just picked 2 games that dont support it very well. Will try another one tonight!

UI update went out last night, ironically my Xbox updated itself. Here's some of the patch notes:

-Fixed an issue in which some people received the E203 error when taking a system update.
-Improved performance on the network port.
-Improved performance and reliability on the save game feature when games are suspended.
-Improved speed and performance of My games & apps.
-Improved idle screen performance.
-Improved 4K visual performance in games.
-Improved the performance of the guide on Home.
-Made improvements to the 4K video pipeline so that apps like Netflix display 4K content correctly.

Games and apps is way faster but I wonder if it will get slow after time again..

If this fixed my issue i would be very happy. Xbox One X looks outstanding on my new TV, and i love being able to cycle between SDR and HDR captures to see just how much difference its making to the composition of a scene.

Even watched a bit of Pedz broadcasting Sea of Thieves last night. Its just so tempting to click the link as its right there on the community screen. Only thing that did not seem to work was if i clicked the link again it opened twitch, but not the actual broadcast within it (not sure if it is supposed to though, i'm not clued up on streaming and streaming apps)

I am unsure of twitch on the Xbox One. I.tend to use Mixer when streaming in the Xbox one, but I was streaming to the GRcadeuk twitch channel last night.

Interesting. I could see your broadcast if i highlighted it and clicked it once (it goes full screen but seems to just stop every 15 seconds or so, like its a trailer). This made me thing maybe i need to pick the "watch broadcast" button, whereupon it booted up twitch but just left me on its homescreen (with no way to actually view your feed). Which was a shame, i wanted to see the game being played as i dont really know much about the mechanics of it.

The first 20mins of this should be useful, I'm literally teaching my 7 year old daughter how to play the game, getting ever so exacerbated also. :fp:
