Yeah, that's pretty tame by his standards ;)

Metal Gear Solid and Snake Eater are excellent in my opinion, 2 and 4 while utterly bonkers at points are very good

I even enjoyed Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain, they played fantastically well.

MGSV is still the best playing third person shooter ever made in pure mechanics and game feel.

I think you missed the "of note" qualifier there. ;)

I like Boktai to be fair

Can't get more of note than a gba cart with a photoreceptor to measure how light it is!

Kojima is a great ideas man, but badly needs an editor or someone to reign parts in. He's good with coming up with concepts, memorable characters and settings too, but a terrible writer (though I imagine it's translated by someone else from.Japanese).

Metal Gear is iconic for a reason, as MGS on the PSone was that console's GoldenEye, but his games also have fairly blatant flaws and obvious criticisms to be levelled against them .

For me Metal Gear have always been those games I start but never finish, ironically I think I've finished every splinter cell and hitman I have ever started despite claiming I don't like stealth games lol truth is I like them but get frustrated , hitman starts with me being stealthy for a few missions and then getting stuck and only getting past the next stage by slaughtering 80percent of the npcs.

To be fair, I think the reason I find Hitman a lot more palatable is that it's "social stealth" and hiding in plain sight. There's the comedy aspect of it too, seeing a bald guy in a uniform walking about and knowing full well you'll be knocking him out with a feather duster later, dumping him in a crate and taking his clothes.

The latest rumour is that MS are licensing MGS from Konami according to ACG, starts at 1hr 10mins -

Let me add some clarification folks Hey folks thats mine.

The person who told me this, has been with me since Far Cry Primal leaks lol. And mostly has been right, from Bethesda moving to 0 day review code and this year to Death loop, Bloodlines, Dragons Dogma 2 leak, Xbox game boost work, and a couple more this year.

I was simply stating I had heard from a source, the same that informed of the Xbox boost the Death loop delay, Bloodlines, and the other stuff I had talked about as saying this happening and that Metal Gear ITSELF was in some way UP for grabs. Which then popped up in this discussion about Kojima(you guys SHOULD know I am not a huge Kojima follower as a person and don't work on personal leaks really ever as I find it a bit creepy)

That source has been reliable all this year so I said it. I don't have the time to really discuss bs so I don't repeat most. But they were right about the Bloodlines stuff the Deathloop stuff. So I figured it was worthy.

So far they hit 8 for 8 this year. And were right as far back as Far Cry Primal prior to it being announced by a huge margin.

I agree with this.

To give him credit though, I was happy to see Death Stranding not being a prolonged development hell. It proves that he is still able to deliver products in a reasonable timeframe (which was evidently not the case regarding MGSV).

Do you guys leave your external drives plugged in when you Xbox is turned off? My son's external drive doesn't seem to turn off despite the Xbox being power down.

I'm sure there is a seperate option in settings I've came across you can tick or untick to power down external drive when Xbox is off. I keep mine on to install stuff to it remotely.

Mains or USB powered?

I’ve got both. My mains-powered drive is used as an “archive”, and that stays off at the mains except when I want to transfer stuff.

The USB-powered portable hard drives stay plugged in, same as I did with the Xbox One. Unlike the One, on the Series X I noticed that the drives’ lights were staying on pretty much all the time. I initially thought nothing of it, assuming it was just updating a game or something, but eventually I got concerned that the drives were going to die early if they kept running constantly, so I switched the settings to “When Xbox is off, turn off storage”.

EDIT: I was initially reluctant to switch that option because, as Oyster just said, you lose that remote install feature. But I’m permanently working from home now, so it’s not much of a loss for me!

I wonder if licensing MGS from Konami would include every Metal Gear/Metal Gear Solid game? I’d be there ASAP if they all came to the platform.

I’m sure I’ve got mine set to turned off when Xbox is off but sure the light on the external drive stays on sometimes? If I’ve got the lights off I can sometimes see a dim white light behind my TV. I turn mine off at the mains overnight though, no point in it all being Switched on for little gain as I have mine in eco (think it’s called that) mode anyway so it shuts down fully each time I think....

Thanks. It’s on his new series x. I selected ‘when Xbox is off, turn off storage’ but after 10 mins the light was still on on the external drive and I could feel it running still so I unplugged it.

I am also concerned about it wearing out if it’s running all the time. He’s in the process of copying over games to a new external drive as his old one appears to be playing up. This is what caused me to notice that they appear to run all the time and not switch off. Maybe I just need to leave it longer than ten minutes?

The Blizzard Arcade Collection just got a lot more enticing. It originally only included The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne and Rock N Roll Racing. The only one I really wanted to play again was The Lost Vikings, so £17 was a bit steep.

But now (for no extra charge) they’ve added Lost Vikings 2 and RPM Racing. I haven’t played LV2 since the days of the Saturn, so it’ll be nice to have that easily playable again.

Yeah, it might take a while. If there’s anything in the queue (downloads or drive-to-drive transfers), I think it will stay semi-active rather than going to sleep.

I remember loving The Lost Vikings back in the SNES days. I don't know whether to keep my fond memories or risk ruining them by buying it.

I've been using a 1TB external drive (USB charged) with it always being on on my Xbox's for about 8years now, it still works perfectly fine.

Yeah, it’s a risk. I reckon it’s worth it.
