It does also sometimes just turn itself off during the starting splash screen and then restart so yeah, a power supply problem sounds about right.
You can get fairly cheap unofficial replacements. They’re far from silent (noticeable, but nothing too horrendous), and I wouldn’t trust it to leave it plugged in at night, but that’s not an issue for you anyway!
EDIT: They seem to be around £30 now, but they were only £20 last year.
