If I buy an MS gift voucher with rewards points and redeem it against something in the current sale, will it count against the “spend £35 and get 4000 points” promotion currently running? The game is in the sale, and I would be spending a total of £45, but only £20 would be cash (the rest would be the £25 gift card).

Yes, that’s what I did. Bought cheap credit at CDKeys and used that. You even get reward points for the value spent!

But be aware, that 4000 point promotion seems buggy. It can take a few days for the amount you’ve spent to be recognised, but you should get it eventually.

When did it start? As I bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition from the store last Tuesday and I haven't received the points.

Not sure of the start date, but the first thing I bought in the sale was on 23 July.

Thanks, but using rewards point makes it almost "free" for me. The bigger dilema is whether to buy form the store or get it form Currys, which is collect in store for £34 and you can get Curry vouchers with MS credit. I think i would rather have the game digital though, as i have a 1X and Series X and would like to be able to play the game on either without having to remember to eject the disc etc each time. Plus Currys vouchers exchange at a much lower rate than MS vouchers do.

Assuming the 4,000 points thing works it only ends up being about £41 in real terms.

Just to update, picked up Mass Effect Legendary Edition in the promotion using £30 or rewards points / ms credit and the 4000 points punch card completed immediately. Can’t wait to play it, have not played the first one since it launched (I dropped it about 10 hours in for reasons I can’t remember). Played ME3 on Wii U about 5 years ago, but it did not have the Citadel DLC, which I believe is substantial.

Wait for it to come to GPU next month….

Faraday Protocol is very much my kind of thing. Though I suspect it wants to be The Talos Principle, right down to the name, hopefully the puzzles will stand up in their own right. The demo isn’t very long, so I’d recommend giving it a try.

Only going to persevere with it as I’ve played the rest, glad I only paid a few quid for it (bought it before my initial run of Game Pass ran out) in the Christmas sale last year. Feels a lot more like a COD game than Halo so far.

Finished Halo 5, probably the weakest of the 7 games by a good margin. Couple of good points being the game looked fantastic and the boosted melee attacks were kind of fun I guess. The endless waves of the same, repetitive enemies was a low point though, really annoying as well considering how easy you could get put down waiting for help to arrive (if your fellow Spartans don’t get themselves killed Blue Team seemed the better of the teams for survival, Osiris seemed to get knocked down constantly ), by the end I was strongly considering dropping it to easy just so I could see the story through. The story wasn’t great either to be honest.

Brings my Halo playthrough to an end though, mainly a very strong series, looking forward to Halo Infinite!

Next games to play through will probably be the Fable trilogy, only ever played 2 before so quite looking forward to playing the other 2.

I believe they are supporting ID on the new Quake rather than being the sole devs, it’s ID lead.

Personally the rumours of Bethesda/Xbox spinning up a dedicated remaster team is far more exciting.

All that said, I’d love Quake 3 Arena on GP!
