If you like fighting games Killer Instinct is essential. Ori 1&2. Not sure what platform you're coming from but Hellblade is brilliant if you've not played that before.

Plenty of shorter games on there too if you need a 'snack' in between the big budget titles. Unpacking is great.

Also, I've making a list what to play and what games would you recommend to play?

Master Chief Collection
Halo Infinite
Gears of War 1-5
Forza 5
Flight Simulator
Hades
Death's Door

Boyfriend Dungeon (dating and dungeon crawler)
Have you already tried Dead Cells? That's on there if you haven't. And you must try it if you haven't!
Windjammers 2
Art of Rally is meant to be very good
Carrion
Deer Simulator is crazy. It looks like a sort of random sandbox game, but there are gamey things you must accomplish. Worth a look. I really liked it.
Exo One - You're a UFO on alien planets. Controls took a little getting used to but it was good fun once I realised what I was doing wrong
Forgotten City is meant to be another good one
Psychonauts 2
Going Under is another really good dungeon crawler, but this one is set at a fizzy drinks / tech company
Some people really liked The Gunk. It's by the people who did Steam World Dig and Steam World Heist.
Mighty Goose is a solid game if you like 2D scrolling shooters
Nobody Saves the World - it's by the Guacamelee people
Nuclear Throne - Really good top down shooter
Did you play Outer Wilds already? That's on Game Pass and it's definitely worth playing.
The Ori games.
Radiant Silvergun was on Xbox Gold for me, may have left since
Sunset Overdrive is on there - it's by Insomniac. Worth a look.
Tetris Effect Connected - Solo and MP Tetris

You won't have enough storage for all that unfortunately on the S. Luckily most of those can be streamed.

This is just an observation after I revisited the older Gears of War games last year. Gears of War 1 (Remaster) looks modern, but does feel clunky. Although it got a graphical remaster, the gameplay does feel a bit dated compared to modern shooters since it was left as-is. As such, if you don't get on with 1 then don't give up - the later versions do feel more 'modern'.

If you haven't played Forza Horizon 4, I would personally start with that one. Then, if you enjoy it, you have 5 to look forward to playing.

I think the best way to approach the Forza Horizon games is to ignore all the Games-as-a-Service stuff and just enjoy the content available as you want to. There's still plenty to enjoy with the PR stunts and races, earning enough to buy all the houses, even if the progression is barebones.

And... I'm all set for three years and GamePass. It only cost me £95. :toot: 8-)

Downloading Master Chief Collection at the moment.

The cheap GamePass trick is only for new subscribers, right? My XSX came with 2 years of GPU so I can’t do it?

Correct. You can add to the existing subscription with ‘top ups’ by buying 1 or 3 month ultimate passes. I buy them from turkey and use a VPN (£13 for a 3 month turkey code from cdkeys). Or you can take a punt on the price not rising, promotion being stopped and hope you get offered the £1 upgrade again once it expires.

Thank you to everybody who gave me an advice and games recommendations.

I've started playing on Halo Reach and I missed it out back then. Going through Halo marathon methinks. :toot:

Edit: Oh, does anyone know which is the best plug and charge kit for the controller?

I'd just get a well reviewed one off Amazon if it were me. (I'm currently using cheapo Asda batteries -like, £2.50 for 10!- which I then chuck in the battery recycle bins in shops when they're out of juice.) You can also power the pad using just the correct type of USB cable.

Have you read up on Microsoft Rewards points, BOR? Great way to earn some money back to spend on digital games, physical gear and or gift cards, etc. Look it up.

I was always a dedicated user of the official play & charge kits for the last two generations, but this time I’ve gone for Eneloop rechargeable batteries.

I got this one from Currys. It's really good (apart from the naff LED design) and runs off the console power to charge both.

Cheers everybody.

Will this work on Series S controller?

Yes.

But I'd agree with Ad's suggestion. Saves you ever having to plug a cable into the controller.

I’d consider the battery capacity. Those Venom packs have 850mAh. The official battery pack is 1310mAh. Eneloop Pro rechargeables are 2500mAh.

If you leave the Venom kit plugged in, I guess it will always be topping up the charge, but with that many charging cycles, I wouldn’t expect them to live long.

The Eneloop option will cost a little more, as you’ll have to buy a charger as well as the batteries. They can’t be charged while in the controller.

I used one for my Xbox one for 3 years solid and it was fine.

There's an Elecgear dock on Amazon that has a 1200mAh battery.

I like the convenience of just being able to pick the pad up /put it back and never think about charging.

Let it expire, then buy 2.5 years of Gold and then 1 Month of Game Pass Ultimate. Redeem your Gold subscription first, turn on then off auto renewal if you're offered free months for doing so, then upgrade the 2.5 years+ to Ultimate by finally redeeming the GPU month subscription.

Get AA eneloops and a charger. They should last you a console gen or two.

Shpeshal Nick said Xbox are doing another 'master chief type collection' for one of it's other franchises, smaller updates to resolution and framerate for each game, he knew which one but wouldn't say.

He half ruled out Gears but maybe it's fable?

Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom games, Quakes, Dishonored are all possible shouts.

I would have thought Gears would be the only one that really makes sense. I'd like to have all of them tarted up and under one launcher. And it would enable MS to eventually turn off the servers for the old games, like they've just done with Halo.
