I don’t want one of these, but I’ve got to say, the countdown timer is very neat. Do other toasters have that?

Taking a chance with my account I know but bought Alan Wake 2 and Star Wars Jedi Survivor for £24 both (Argentinian key and Egyptian key :shifty: ) and both now in my library. Can’t wait to start Alan Wake 2 :toot:

I wish I knew how to do the VPN thing - I would buy so many more games. It seems like none of them actually offer a free tariff though - just “cancel and get your money back” which I always assume is a nightmare to actually qualify for.

buy a key from somewhere, get a VPN change your VPN region to the region of the key. Log into MS redeem page, enter code, done.

Do you actually need a VPN though? I've bought several games from the Icelandic XBox store with no issues (via a revolut card). Or is it limited to specific regions?

Good. Exclusivity is gooseberry fool for the customer. I’d like to see it end. Realistically, I’d still expect there to be timed exclusivity for first-party games, but maintaining exclusivity for older titles just limits their sales.

The 2 games I bought today were digital codes to redeem so had to use a VPN. Argentina one was ok because I have a Nord sub so that had servers for it but had to get a different one for an Egyptian server so installed one via the App Store and used a free trial sub then cancelled after redeeming the key.

My RB button has just broken  , so ive ordered a new controller from currys in "electric volt yellow" for £35. The old xbox controller works in the meantime, but it just feels too subtley different.

Windows Central also reporting on Xbox back catalogue games heading to other platforms

This is a rumour only. Hi-Fi Rush looks to be heading to Switch 2, as for the rest, nothing concrete yet.

What exactly is the Iceland trick?

And as for the risk to accounts, could you create a separate account for potentially bannable purchases?

Log in to the Xbox website (logged in with your Xbox username) and set the location option (at the bottom of the web page, not your profile details) to "Iceland". Search for the game you want to buy, gasp at how much cheaper some of them are, then purchase using your standard credit / debit card. Factor about £1 extra being charged by your bank for a foreign transaction.

The selection of games is quite limited on the Iceland store, but some big hitters are considerably cheaper.

Didn’t realise it was that easy. Up to now I’ve been buying stuff either using reward points or via CD Keys. Good to have another option, cheers.
