My lad couldn’t get on. I hard reset with no luck. So ended up doing a full hardware reset of the console...

Then saw this...

Microsoft could have sent everyone an email saying service is down. I expect there are 1000s that have done the same as me.

:/

Disclaimer: I am an Xbox employee.

To provide as much transparency as I can, this was a service issue that caused an unexpected failure on the console - it exposed a serious bug in the shell that we are in the process of fixing so that any future service issues at least result in a console in an offline state. Consoles set as Home consoles would then still be able to play offline.

The service issue is being rolled back, and rebooting the console (either into connected standby or a full shutdown) will resolve the issue.

In other words, I was sort of right. Whatever coding remains from the original version that needed the One to remain online otherwise it's a no-go is probably what's being talked about.

Yes. I choose my gamer tag in the early days, and I guess all three character tags are taken now, or youre not allowed to have three.

Is there any more news about the Xbox live signing in bru-ha-ha? I can't play Assassin's Creed as I'm not signed in!

Edit: Nope, hang on, I'm in!

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

BT Sport is now available on Xbox, via a series of convoluted payment plans:

BT Sport is now available to watch in more ways than ever before thanks to the introduction of a new large-screen app available on Xbox, Samsung Smart TVs and Apple TV.

Initially allowing access to BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, BT Sport 3, ESPN, BoxNation and the BT Sport Extra channels, the app is available on the new platforms to existing BT Sport customers at no extra charge*.

Launching in time for the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds – starting next Tuesday with the huge Manchester United v Paris Saint-Germain clash – the app will also include on-demand content, highlights, TV listings and the BT Sport 4K UHD channel later this year**.

This enhancement will ensure live sport in stunning ultra-high definition is available to more fans, by making these devices another way to access 4K content on TV.

The app will enable customers to access BT Sport without the need for a set-top box, view content via a second screen at home and allow those with a digital subscription to watch on a big screen.

New to Xbox one and having an issue with resuming suspended games when turning the Xbox One X back on - I get a message saying something about user account being swapped and live not being accessible (although it is). I then get booted back to the main game menu (game in question is D4). Not sure if this applies to other games. The game does not fully exit to be clear, it's kind of equivilant to selecting a "quit to main menu" option in a game. Kind of annoying as it's a long load time from the main menu.

Is this a common issue? Game specific?
Thanks if anyone can help....

It's a good thing what Microsoft are doing, and that's a great advert. Showing kids with disabilities there is so much risk of making the ad mawkish or 'worthy' but I think the tone here is perfect; regular kids who love to play games but showing they have extra challenges and showing that the adaptive controller can help them. Playing it at the Super Bowl too so it reaches a massive mainstream audience in the US.

Do you have 'instant on' mode set up on your Xbox One or are you turning it fully off?

Some games are a bit prone to glitching out when doing the automatic resume, but they're usually the online multiplayer type titles. Not sure why D4 should cause a problem.

Instant on is...on. Will try a different game and see if the same issue occurs there. Bit of a shame as I love the resume feature on my PS4 and it has never gone wrong for me in 3 years. Have also done a full power cycle.
