I'm not 100% sure about cloud saves requiring Gold anymore. I usually pay a game until I've finished it and if I like it it stays, or if I'm done with it then I'll delete it and never go back to it.

Thanks. Hmmm, all the games i have deleted have only had one file visible to me. The prompt is "uninstall" rather than "delete" IIRC, so possibly the save data is squirreled away somewhere. Guess there is only one way to find out....

You just need an Xbox Live account for pretty much unlimited Cloud saves (every game you download comes with an unknown amount of cloud storage), Gold isn't required. You can delete your saves from your hard drive or both your hard drive/cloud if you wish.

Guess i'm ok then as i have not specified the deletion of saves. Also i would of been on a non gold account at this time so i should be ok either way.
Thanks for the confirmation

Can I ask for some advice about which Xbox One to buy please?

I already have a PS4 Pro and a backlog of games which should mean I don’t even entertain the thought of buying any other gaming device.

However, the Game Pass idea really appeals, and I want to play some of the exclusives that are currently on it (as well as a lot of the multi format games I haven’t played). I’m thinking that if I buy a console and some form of live/Game Pass/Ultimate, then that’s my purchases over. I doubt I’ll have time to need to buy any Xbox games.

So I’m torn between the cheapest model possible (appears to be the Digital version at £169) and a One X ( I have a 4K TV and noticed the PS4 upgrade).

Any thoughts on which to go for. Is the X upgrade worth another £200?

Thanks in advance.

I'd stick to the digital model if you really are only going to use gamepass. The X would give you the option of a 4K bluray player however so if that's something you'd use sometimes it's probably worth the extra £££

I went with the X as I don't want to miss out on the best possible experience, coupled with the fact there are a few big hits on Game Pass that are X enhanced. But either way it's a great investment, Game Pass is the best thing in gaming for me in my 35 ish years of gaming. Phenomenal value.

Thanks both. Just bought the All Digital console. As much as I wanted the full experience, I couldn’t justify the extra money - although I’ll put some of that towards a couple of year’s Live. And hope the £1 upgrade to Ultimate works!

I went with the All Digital console too, with next gen coming in just over a year I can put the extra cash towards a Nextbox instead of the X and bring the games over with me.

Can I just check I have this right?

Set up a gamer tag etc on the console. Then add a live subscription (up to three years), then pay the £1 upgrade and it automatically adds Game Pass for however many years of live you’ve added?

Yep that's how it works! It converts to 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate, which is Game Pass Xbox, Game Pass PC and Xbox Live Gold all in one. So you'll still be able to get the Games with Gold each month too.

It works gloriously. The reassurance of having 3 years of Game Pass makes me feel very very happy.

Worth pointing out that the £1 offer ends 30th June.

Yeah, my biggest concern is that the service goes to gooseberry fool. But to be honest I feel like I have had my money's worth already, and I have only had my membership about 4 months.

I’ve downloaded 31 games to my 1TB One S and still have a bit of space left. Incredible value and I feel more compelled to try games I’ve previously been on the fence about with the PS4 (Vampyr, Hellblade, Observer) - and that’s before Forza Horizon 4, Gears 4 and Halo.

I think with all the developers Microsoft have bought we should be at least confident of a decent service for the next 4 or 5 years at least as that gives them time to develop 1 game each starting now.

Question: How do I access the free DLC for the original Xbox BC titles (I have them on disc).

Does it just start to download if I pop the disc in?

If you haven't installed them yet, the update data is probably already included within the download needed to run the game. If they are already on the system, just update the game.
