Some short memories in this place. I agree it shouldn't happen, but unfortunately people cannot help trying to justify their choices by spoiling someone else's enjoyment.

This was pretty much the same with the PS3 and 360, but Xbox fans were all over this. Now the tables have turned it is supposed to be ignored as no big deal.

It wasn't a big deal back then. It isn't now. Don't get caught up in internet negativity. Lets just look forward to the new consoles and games.

Going to get KIller Instinct, Forza and Dead Rising on day 1. Not sure what else i'll pick up in my "want another new game" phase. Never bought a battlefield game so teempted by that. If the Rome gladiator game gets good reviews i might nab that on day 1 too.

I very rarely come into ggc anymore because it's populated by people that try to force their opinion on others. Arguments everywhere in nearly every topic.

I spend most of my time in OT which is so much more grown up. :shifty:

It was a big deal. Not only was the PS3 late the multi-platform difference stunted it's growth in key markets. It's only when Sony WWS hit it's stride the PS3 really started to make a real come-back.

I agree with the short memories thing. I always remember every multi format release getting the digital foundry comparison treatment and the 360 fans gloating each time the PS3 was beaten. Now it's happening before the machines are even out with the PS4 being the better machine and it's like they are all in denial :slol:

Maybe from the point of view of Sony management it was, but not for the majority of gamers. The big deal at the start of the ps3's life for gamers was the lack of exclusive triple a games. Once they started arriving the sales figures went up. People didn't buy start to buy the ps3 because the level of programmers understanding of the architecture increased.

Im saying the minor graphical differences between the consoles are not a big deal. Even if you do wish to discuss it the xbox vs ps4 thread is the place for it rather than de-railing this thread.

Just seems like there needs to be a giant group unbunching of panties.

Not all the fans. At least they waited till the games were out. But again the point stands, it made so little difference. Now all you guys are doing is lowering yourselves. Both sides of the party need to grow up. I'll start taking an interest when the chat goes back to the games.

But that's what I said, isn't it? 3rd party exclusives were hard to come by (if at all) on either platform that had any impact on sales performance. In key markets sales increased due to 1st party initiatives. That's when Sony saw an uplift.

'Minor'? OK.

Also, where is this XBOX ONE vs PS4 thread you speak of? Right now there is nowhere to discuss the developments of XBOX ONE.

Yes, minor graphical differences between 360 and ps3. I'm sure the same will happen again.

Discuss why you are buying one over the other here. Your welcome.

There were some drastic problems with versions of PS3 games though. Skyrim was a bug-ridden mess (even more so than normal), Black-Ops online wasn't at all playable for a long time, Bayonetta suffered from some terrible slowdown and with a game that requires quick, precise controls it's a big issue. You can hide under a rock if you like but part of the 360's appeal was down to 3rd party games naturally running better on the system. They weren't just 'minor graphical difficulties' as you put it.

Nobody is trying to pretend anything. We are trying to talk a out the xbox one release. Like i said there is a place for your discussion but it's not this thread. Especially given that any such discussions can't be engaged in maturely. All to quickly it disolves into humourless squabbling and name calling.

I'm talking about the general graphical capabilities of both consoles were fairly evenly matched. I'm not talking about every game. Both machines (360, ps3) have the capability to produce the same level of graphics, with a few minor differences here and there. Look at the software developers for larger discrepencies between the two versions of the game, not the hardware.

I think if there is to be a safe haven from negativity for people excited about Xbox One there should be an 'Xbox One buyers launch anticipation thread' for that purpose, and it should be named as such - at the moment this appears to be a catch-all platform megathread but with negativity frowned upon which won't work IMO.

I'm not a fan of these catch-all platform megathreads for various reasons, I think it would be better for discussion if we had new threads for new news and I've been over that several times in the past. That 'sub-1080p resolution X1 games' news would surely be big enough to deserve it's own thread for instance?
