How do digital purchases work on Xbox One? Let me explain. I already have an XB1 but am not a Live Gold member. I have bought a new XB1S for my lads for Xmas and have set it up ready with my XBL profile plus theirs as the 2 child accounts on it. It's all bundled away ready for December now.
However their console came with a digital download of FH3 which I have used and have downloaded to both my old and their new XB1's. My question is, can both consoles play the same digital game at the same time? Will either console need XBL Gold to play the game (even if they want to play offline 2 player mode - they don't play online yet)
They want (& will get) Fifa18 for Xmas but I don't know whether to pay the extra for the XBL version so I could play it occasionally on my console, or stick with the physical copy already preordered.
I'm familiar with how PS4 allows us to play the same game across 2 PS4s through the designation of a Primary PS4 and one having to be online. Is there something similar for XB1? I've read conflicting info via XB forums about which console to download on first and license transfers so would appreciate answer from people on here with practical experiences please. Thanks
Update: if I was to buy XBL Gold, can this be used on both consoles? My profile exists on both. Will only 1 console be able to play online at a time, or can both be online under a single Gold sub, either at the same time or separately? Does the fact that their profiles are shown as Child accounts and mine is the Parent account make any difference?
Also potentially interested in EA Access and wondering if that would work across both consoles from a single EA Access subscription?
Sorry for all the questions!
You can only access your content if you are signed in or if the console is set to 'My Home Xbox'. The trick to have two consoles with access to all your games is keeping the account you WON'T be signing into as your home Xbox. This should allow you access on both machines, including EA Access and Games With Gold stuff.
On your Home Xbox you can have up to (I think) 10 Live accounts with one Gold sub, all with the ability to play online. Also the parental controls are excellent, you can set age ratings of games that each account can play, and limit online communication to just friends, or block it entirely. My lad is only 6 so he plays online with randoms but can't be contacted or hear any chat at all.
