Official price a bit too expensive but there's going to be some crazy deals before the end of the year probably.

That pricing isn't quite as attractive as I'd hoped. I guess it'll be around £230 in the UK. I generally buy games digitally now but I'd probs prefer to get the normal disc version rather than this one.

So at launch this could be more expensive than the standard 1TB S with game (currently £212.98 on Amazon)?

The normal S is £250 rrp so maybe £220 rrp for UK. Sub £200 for actual price?

I can't help but feel they could have took a bigger hit on the price here. Locking people to digital guarantees them cash flow, even if it's only via Game Pass. Imagine if this launched at £149 or even less, it'd be massive.

1TB HDD, nah, the fact that a HDD is cheap as chips now there is no excuse on a dl only option to have anything less than 4TB

Games are already expensive. At this stage it would be more important to get people invested in the Xbox ecosystem.

I believe so, Venom; I haven't seen any reports suggesting the casing has been made smaller. I think it's the same but with no disc drive.

A 1Tb hard drive is a little small, I feel. For the cost point I wonder if a bigger one would have been possible? I'm not against the idea of a "digital console" but - for me - this design and pricing mix doesn't prove as tempting as it might have. Even the decision to include Horizon 3 feels a bit of a "second best" type of choice when 4 has been out for six months.

£200? Nah you’re alright Microsoft. If it were £150 I’d be all over it.

What could they even bundle this with to make it an attractive deal? A year of game pass bundled in?

The hard drive size is a non-issue though, any external drive can be plugged in the back to boost storage.

Obviously by the time Black Friday rolls around and the next gen consoles will probably have been unveiled, this will be going for £150 bundled with ~~games~~ download codes for games. But That is a mental launch price for something with less features than a console that is already available for less money.

Absolutely, I'm not defending the price at all. It strikes me as an easy opportunity to attract the more casual gamer, or 'povvo' as BID0 so delightfully put it. Think they've missed the mark big time. I just don't think the small hard drive is the reason this is the case.

Sorry, yeah, I didn't mean to sound so confrontational. Given the next gen backwards-compatibility loyalty issue, per the other thread, I'm surprised they don't make this a loss-leader to rack up some big digital sales from floating voters. Get parents buying them for their kids, etc.

They could have explained the price if they'd halved the size of the machine as well but given the footprint it's going to be using the exact same mobo, same cooler and same PSU.

They've literally removed the disc drive and filled in a whole on their injection moulds.
