The average downloadable game is much closer to 50GB these days and as asset resolution becomes larger the files will become larger.

I don't really get the 2 games thing? People own way more than 2 games and no one is going to want to constantly delete games and redownload them. Imagine anyone thinking to themselves "I haven't played Forza for a while, I'll just pop on the Xbox and wait 2 hours for the game to download before I can play it."

ThinkiI have near 3 TB full of games on my Xbox including my external HDD. Same with my PC.

I was using a 2TB USB Seagate with my XB1X until recently, when I realised I just wasn't using all that additional space. I find the XB1X's internal 1TB drive more than enough (I have currently have 14 games installed - a mix of 360 and XB1X games, with well over 300GB still available). I'm using that 2TB drive on my new XPS PC now, exclusively for game installs (to keep them off the main 2TB internal drive).

I can manage quite well with the XB1X's 1TB drive - I barely play what I have installed on there and with a decent BB connection switching out games (if I have to or want to) is a breeze. I clocked over 100M/bit per second on my Sky BB box the other day. Ridiculous - the data was coming in so fast the XB1X could barely keep up! It varies, of course, but generally speaking these days if you have a good BB connection storage space isn't as much of an issue. Disk management is - you'll need to keep at least 200GB free at all times for updates/patches, etc.

Updates and installation times have been more problematic and annoying for me this generation than any storage woes. When I went to watch a movie the other day I was greeted by an update for the Xbox One X, and then again for the Blu Ray software. Nothing I plan to do ever starts on time because of it.

It's true I am the number 1 Xbox fanboy. I have about 10 installed on mine. I don't tend to play multiple games at once although I know a lot of people here will buy a brand new game and play it for an hour and move on to the next one. I don't think this digital console is aimed at us now though as we all have an Xbox if we ever contemplated owning one.

There was an article/report (probably a few years ago now) where the average user buys just two games a year (Fifa and CoD)

Even at those speeds it would still take over 2 hours to download Gears of War 4. That doesn't really allow for playing something because you had the urge.

Yes many consumers have just switched to buying physical games from online retailers but more and more people are buying digital games. It makes sense to try this out and see how people take to it, especially for Microsoft who have Game Pass to push.

The Xbox One S digital IS the Xbox One S! Under the case it has an eject button and disc drive port. Meaning that they did not design a new chassis and motherboard, obviously.

99 quid would've been nice, and getting people into there store far more important, shame.

Unless it sells like hotcakes (unlikely) I imagine this will see some swift discounting before the end of the year.

It's £50 less than the regular S.

For RRP but not in the real world. You can get an S for £200.
