No, its got an "an advanced d-pad derived from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller." Phil says "We have a new hybrid d-pad that we've been working and think is important."

I hope it's not like the "Hybrids" in the expanse as having one of them pop out of the box would be pretty inconvenient. I don't own power armour or shitloads of guns :dread: .

I'm just glad we've gome back to just games machines and all the talk of "Entertainment hubs" has gone away.
If I wanted a super fancy Blue Ray player I'd buy one and I don't give a gooseberry fool about being able to instantly transition from games to movies seamlessly as I don't think I've ever been in a game and desperately needed to stick a film on.

Back to the old days of a console being just a console that can play blue rays as it has a drive just as the PS1 could play CD's. Sanity has returned.

I like the design of the console. It's actually unique and recognisable unlike the current generation, which are incredibly boring as far as aesthetic design is concerned.

Not so sure about the controller. Seems like a real failure to innovate over the previous one. All it seems to have going for is the addition of a pointless 'share' button. I am wondering if it has motion tracking, which was a real missing feature in the xbox one controller. Including it would allow greater parity between platforms and encourage more devs to make use of it in their games.

Reminds me of those SFFPC cases like the Corsair One.

I quite like the look of it. It won't fit in my tv unit though but it could probably go by my switch off to the side. I love MS' attitude to backwards compatibility - if I'd been a xbox gamer for long enough, it'd be a hell of an incentive. As it stands, backwards compatibility with PlayStation will likely keep me with that as I have games going all the way back.

The design lends itself to eventually becoming a cube too :datass:

That was my initial thought, but it does work horizontally as well. Think Xbox 360.

I’m thinking it will probably fit behind my TV, like the docked Switch.

I'll probably have it sitting horizontally here.

I think it looks fantastic. Simple and sleek. Some people with slim flat units will struggle but it fits in with the style of smart assistants like echo etc.

At a guess I would say the red ring saga is still playing a factor into the form....factor :datass: But yeah we all know hot air rises so it makes sense to have the out on the top and tunnel everything out there. Means less fans needed and that comes with the bonus of less noise. With it being a thin device it means no one will be a gimp and put things on top so lot less chance of covering the fans. With horizontal designs there's always the risk of someone covering fans.

Being serious, a handle would actually be a good. Would make it easier to take round to another house for a party or whatever. There are a lot of PC cases with such a feature for LAN parties or whatever.

It looks inoffensive enough to be sat on a table next to a TV and I think most non-gamers will just won't notice it.

Except if you make it purple and stick a handle on it :slol: .
Purple really just doesn't work with that and the controller is just looks terrible :slol: .

What are the odds of it having a built-in mic and speaker, turning it into a home assistant?

If people want a home assistant they should just get married.
