Those old Xbox discs just became a lot more valuable...

They act as keys to get the games on the One, so the same should apply for Series X. But once they do install, it's pretty much the same as using a regular disc.

I presume licensing and rights issues stop a lot of the original Xbox games being released as digital only options.

The Xbox One X makes every original Xbox game 4K which is done with emulation, not touching the original code, I wonder if Series X would have enough power to make all 360 games 4K and moreover, have maybe twice the resolution on existing Xbox One games!?

I think the a better usage of the extra power would be making every game rock solid at 60fps with maybe a slight bump in graphics from the One X. Just the upgrade in loading speed and being a fixed 60fps would be quite an achievement for the last few years of Xbox releases.

This is where Game Pass really earns its stripes.

This is already having a large effect on Xbox One software, Particularly second hand sales. Walk in any store and there’s much more PS4 titles than Xbox One as it stands.

You really do have to turn everything into a pro-PS4 point, don't you? Are you 12 years old?

Why would Microsoft care how many second hand games are in shops anyway? It makes them zero money.

They can’t make games capped at 30 to be 60, only increase resolution.

To be fair, they didn’t say it was a bad or good thing, just commented on the effect.

Unless I missed something the Back Compatibility on Xbox One (and X) only works for select games, I'm not sure that's going to change for OG Xbox and 360 games, I can see it working for 100% of Xbox One titles though.

The size of the GPU part on this is making it look like sub £599 isn't likely for this, which is fine if there is a 'Series S' version of the console for around half the price.

Yes, this news about the difference between PS5 and SX is making me think the SX is the 1X of the new gen.

It'll be interesting to see how any gap in power is used and if the era of diminishing returns does mean that only huge gaps in power will be noticeable. Will multi-format games look significantly better on Series X or will it be as we have now with Pro and X where there is a slight difference but not exactly mind blowing.

I could say the same to you to be honest for such a reply. I wasn’t having an argument over pro PS4 or Xbox One. I’m not quite sure where that line of interpretation has come from. I work in games retailing and that’s just a statement of what’s happening. You could argue it’s a positive Xbox in a way to be fair. Was no pro PS4/Xbox One mantra

I assume you’re replying to SEP rather than me but I think he’s mistaken you for gamerforever, our resident PS fanboy.

Will be interesting to see if Sony are also releasing a super-premium PS5 Pro at launch or are just sticking with the one machine, effectively keeping the current strategy of updating the system a few years later instead.

And where will the PS5 sit alongside the regular Xbox Series X(s). Ideally you want to be the same or in the middle. Doesn’t look good for them if Microsoft have two new systems that are both more powerful than Sony, even if Sony does come in a bit cheaper.

As far as the apparent power difference favouring Series X, I think they’ll release a Series S under the price of the PS5 then kinda cater to the budget gamer and also those of us who want everything to look shinier, tied all together with Gamepass, and most developers will want to show Series X footage unless they cut a deal with Sony or MS.
