I can't see Sony releasing something that isn't at least on par with it. When it comes down to it anyway, how far can graphics go? I don't think anything shown by either company will blow anyone's head off. A bit shinier and smoother but nothing to make a mess in one's underwear.

It’s technically more powerful in both GPU and CPU. Opinions gonna opinion but from a factual standpoint, it is more Powerful.

But that really stopped mattering a generation or two ago, the games look barely any better. Whats the point of going all in on this sales tactic?

Xbox Series X is never going to get people who left the brand to come back. Theres nothing to see here unless Sony really mess up.

.....I was just saying that it’s more powerful, which it is. What have sales tactics got to do with anything? This isn’t an opinion I’m posting.

I wasnt questioning you.

If MS sell it for €400 that would be crazy.

Missed that rumoured price on the previous page, that’d be a very tempting price for the Series X, are they sure that might not be for the lower powered offering though? Being on the fence about which one to get (as it would mainly be for 3rd party games) that could sway me a little with Gamepass over the PS5. Heck if they show off some good first party games in June/July that’d be tempting to get at launch never mind waiting for TES 6.

Out of interest, which game are you referring to?

Scorn.

I can completely understand why they may have done this, it could mean more money to work with the game and stuff, it's just. I don't know, I feel like I've backed something when I had no need to now. You know what I mean?

Hopefully they at least do something in return. Does seem unfair. The art style does look cool, though.

I'm the other way, If pretty much decided to build a gaming PC but if these consoles come out as the rumoured prices they are incredible value. For PS4 Vs XSX then I have really enjoyed the exclusives on PS4 but ask my friends are on Xbox and I really like the direction MS are going. Probably best just to wait and see as it's unlikely the first year or so will offer anything vastly superior.

I’m genuinely annoyed if Valhalla ends up 30fps on SX. I mean ffs.

Also, that Ghosts of Tsushima reveal for PS4 looks better than any game shown at that last Inside Xbox episode. I still think the July show will Be far better. Third party are really playing things safe.

I don't think they will, its happened with a few games now. Its a shame, but I guess without being backed it wouldn't have gotten this far into development to then get the.option for game pass... Maybe?

Psychonauts 2 backers were all refunded when Microsoft bought Double Fine (and is launching it into Gamepass). MS have almost infinite pockets so it could be just a one off but Scorns backers should get something.

I fully expect the next gen to do the same thing as this gen in terms of framerate. At least from the beginning.

The exclusives are of little difference to me, a good chunk of my non Nintendo gaming is taken up (or was rather) by racing games that the Nintendo systems were never going to get but even that has waned over the last couple of years but I’m very eager to get back into it and will probably treat myself to a decent wheel to play said games with. Other third party games and the odd first party games are just a bonus.

It is a bit of a shame, the new consoles will have all of this power but still limiting themselves to 30fps.

I hope that's not the case, and they do aim for 60fps. A bad framerate will age a game more.

Hopefully they'll have the option to lower the resolution to get s better frame rate like you can on the One X.

I hope so, my 1080p, 10 year old TV is still doing just fine

With a lot of games being cross-gen you would hope many would be 60fps on next-gen consoles at the start. Have to wait & see. I assume next gen only 1st party Xbox games will be a mix.

From the industry's most reliable insider Shinobi about the July event -

The idea was always to basically lay all the cards on the table from first party and have a big blowout. And there's a ton of stuff to be excited about. Definitely big AAA XGS reveals, other big third parties on stage (not necessarily exclusive). It might change a bit at this point in time given COVID-19, but you could say that's the aim. I'm personally really excited for their show.

June 10th is the rumoured date for the June Xbox Platform & Services event.

I can’t wait to see what the new studios Microsoft acquired have been coming up with. Hoping for some new IP’s and a proper look at that new Rare IP they showed last year (Everwild?)

343 Industries (Halo)
The Coalition (Gears of War 5)
Compulsion Games (We Happy Few)
The Initiative (led by 2013 Tomb Raider boss David Gallagher)
inXile Entertainment (Wasteland 2)
Minecraft (Minecraft)
Ninja Theory (DmC: Devil May Cry, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice)
Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas)
Playground Games (Forza Horizon)
Rare (Sea of Thieves)
Turn 10 Studios (Forza Motorsport)
Undead Labs (State of Decay)
Xbox Global Publishing Group

Be interesting to see if the June event will have another acquisition

I can’t wait to see what they’ve all been working on either, imagine a new Forza stands a good chance of being a launch game, Forza 5 was a launch game for Xbox One wasn’t it? Not sure why but Gears of War has never grabbed me.

I think Microsoft have done well with their acquisitions. I think there's potentially a lot of variety there too with the type of games they'll put out.

At the moment if it's released the first game I'm going to play on my Series X is Flight Simulator.
I just think it's the best looking game I've seen so far.

Jeff Grubb's latest update -

Microsoft and Xbox Series X

Microsoft already had an Inside Xbox as part of its monthly Xbox 20/20 events. It also announced plans to show off its first-party lineup during a July event. But if it’s doing something on a monthly cadence, what about June?

Right now, the plan at Microsoft is to have another event during the second week of June. Microsoft was targeting June 10 for this, but June 9 is also possible. Unlike the May and July game showcases, the June broadcast will provide a closer look at the new Xbox console.

Now, we’ve already seen a lot from the Xbox Series X system. Microsoft even invited some outside outlets to tear down the console piece by piece. But a closer look at the X could show what it’s like to actually use.

Or, maybe, this is when Microsoft actually talks about the rumored Lockhart system. Multiple reports allege that Lockhart is a more affordable Xbox but with many of the key next-gen features, like an SSD.

To be clear, I cannot confirm Lockhart will show up at this event or even that it’s going to market.

Maybe some xCloud news or Velocity Architecture details.
